Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
New,
I would suggest looking in the PBS bid guide under "unstacking". Then reread it. Pound your head against the nearest table, then reread it again, then pray come holiday time! lol. It all depends on how big of a juniority problem you've got and how well you can work the system.

You should avoid MSP at all costs! It is horrible up here, I am pretty sure I see some snow falling outside my window right now. I mean who can live with only two weeks of summer. You should just wait until ATL opens up, it is much warmer. Or if seniority is what you desire New York is the place ya gotta be!

I would have less of a juniority problem if I went to MSP. But, if I go up there I would have a warmth problem.

Perhaps you are right. Maybe the new international hub is going to cause eveything to slide down as they rebuild. Good point.
Oh, I agree with you. JFK is a nightmare. But we have to remember, ATL is the flagship of DAL. If ATL keeps going downhill and someday becomes a JFK, we are screwed.
Ironically, this just isn't an airport issue. It is an overall infrastructure issue that our country doesn't seem to get. NYC only gets uglier in the future unless they start tomorrow on a major recapitilization on infrastructure. The existing major roads, trains, subways, bridges, and tunnels barely get the job done now. What does the future hold?
I still think we go into the water off long island and build a new giga airport (think Hong Kong). Close JFK and make LGA a private / business field. The kicker is, the new airport has REAL mass transit to all places people need to go, NJ, the 5 boroughs, EWR, CT, and Long Island --- WITHOUT the use of cabs. I know, I'm dreaming.

So they/we do the unstacking thing, too. I figured as much. With us, if you were in the top 1/2 you could pretty much avoid the holidays. But, I would guess with the combined system, getting the holidays off would go a little more junior.
I would have less of a juniority problem if I went to MSP. But, if I go up there I would have a warmth problem.

Heyas,
The interesting thing about DTW is despite having a 2+2 layout already, they have installed a second set of localizers that are offset, and are going to be able to perform dual PRM approaches to increase capacity in so-so weather...so they say.
So far, I'm not a fan of PRM. MSP was one of the test bed cities, and it was an epic fail there. We were told that if even 1 aircraft had to be broken out, it trashed the gain from the system. The capacity gain from 17/35 did more for MSP than PRM ever did.
I like DTW quite a lot, as a place to be based, and to fly in/out of with minimal hassles. I wish there were more food choices, though...

If this "influential" person was judging Delta's financial competence based on the condition of the terminal... he is an idiot.
If you step back for a moment and think logically about it, nobody bases their ticket purchase based on a terminal or facilities. If they do, they don't EVER think about the cost of said ticket anyway. I'm not defending the situation at JFK at all.. believe me since I am based there, but it really isn't a basis for buying tickets. And.. all things being equal, I'd rather have a bunch of new metal rather than a new terminal.

tsquare....I agree with everything you said and you are most definitely correct. What we have to think about though is how many of those passengers are going to be return customers after having to deal with the mess at both LGA and JFK? More JFK than LGA. I mean, JFK is a mess...from the hardstand (I think that's what its called) to the busing of people to terminal 4 for DTW, LAX, and AMS flights....absolute mess! I cant put it any other way. I was on the bus the other day to catch a DTW flight and could not believe the conditions and how unhappy the people in the ridiculously overcrowded bus were...one of them even asked me "why is Delta doing this?" I was in unifrom, and couldnt give them an answer.
Again, bottom line is what you said, people dont buy there tickets based on facilities, but my worry is that after people get a taste of our terminal, compared to say American's or JetBlue's, there is no question where people would rather be.
