Guys,
Can DAL-N guys touch the 777 at all before 5 years Post SOC? I thought they were fenced off completely.

That is my reading as well. All AC are open if there are unbid positions.

WHAT IF DAL acquires more 777s than on the fleet plan? Would those a/c go to all bidders? What if DAL acquires more 747s than on the fleet plan? Again, would those a/c go to all bidders?

My understanding is that any new a/c not on the fleet plan (I think DAL had two 777s on order, so 'south' guys get dibbs on them) would go to all bidders. The real wrench in the gears--so to speak--is if DAL gets tired of waiting on the 787, and converts those orders to 777-300s. Man, that'd be a food fight. Suppose that's a Q for another day...or maybe someone actually has the answer for that too!

Not sure that is technically true. I think that a DALN guy getting a bid in the category would exercise his/her seniority for monthly bidding purposes but if any one got displaced out of the category or someone bid in later, then they would be the first to go regardless of where they sit in the category. I believe the same is true for any DALS guy regards the 747/787.
The following is directly from the Conditions and Restrictions:
7. If there are insufficient bidders from one pre-merger pilot group for a posted or contingent vacancy on one side of the fence during the period covered by Paragraph 4., unfilled vacancies may be filled by pilots from the other pre-merger airline.
8. A pilot awarded a position (via an AE, MD or VD) to a category as a result of insufficient bidders will, for the purposes of processing future displacements in accordance with Section 22 F. of the JCBA, be considered as junior to all pilots from the pre-merger pilot group that was entitled to that category.Denny

Well, that all depends on whether or not these would be "new" A/C or "replacement" A/C. But how will we know? Many of us will be introduced to a new committee. The Dispute Resolution Committee, or DRC. The DRC will lighten the wallets of all of us because ALPA couldn't possibly fund these committees with the millions that they receive each and every month from our dues. In the past, the DRC has had a requirement to meet only in swank hotels and we all know that filets, cabernet, and cigars are not cheap in those places.
Let's all hope that it doesn't come to that because if it does, we'll all be writing checks for assesments.
