I'll second San Juan. If you have military ties, you can rent a 3-bedroom cottage aboard one of the Coast Guard stations for less than $100/night. Then, you can get all the beach / adventure gear you want from MWR for super-low prices. We did a whole week in PR last winter for around $1K.
I just got back from San Juan a week ago. You can go to SJU from JFK or ATL, so plenty of nonrev options. It's a great tropical place, but a little hot and humid right now. Renting a car allows you to go visit out of the way places like El Yunque rainforest or the caves near Arecibo. Old San Juan is very pretty and you can walk around there day or night. The best barbeque place is literally across the runway from SJU, Bebo's BBQ, and is open 24 hours a day. Inexpensive, and worth waiting in line for it, especially the fried plantains. Plus the whole island has strong black coffee!

Guys my next rotation changed from an SDF layover on the second night to 17.5 hrs in ATL (domicile) with no hotel. Scanning the contract I didn't see anything for this situation...am I entitled to a hotel if requested. I commute. Thanks.

Yes, you get a hotel if a line holder. If a reserve you have to be released from the trip. You need to call crew accommodations to have the hotel booked.
