Why not run the respective aircraft (765) out of its base ATL, and just run longer trips, eg ATL-CDG-JFK-AMS-ATL. No training costs, no moving costs...more happy people.

I's got some figgurin to do on this bid. One way or the other.. with no A330 coming to ATL I am TOAST out of my seat.

The second sim should be up and running mid Feb.

No mention of the big bus moving to ATL in the bid though. Too bad...

I beleive it is due to hotel costs in NYC. It is cheaper for them to move the base up there and not have to overnight crews in NYC. There will also be less deadheading with a base in NYC.

BTW,

Anyone notice the "5.7%" increase in flying? Looks like flight ops won the battle in regards to hiring. I'm willing to bet that was the threshold for max flying without hiring.

I bet you are correct. We will need bodies but they want to get this done first.

Looks like the memo came out as published.

330 should be on Aug Bid. They need a sim. They were debating it, but for now it appears that it will be left out.

Remember this letter was not a bid, but a statement of what WILL be on the bid, not what WILL not. I am sure they will tweak it before it comes out, they always. do!

757, I bet we see a NYC 744 base before an ATL base. I think they only fly NRT out of ATL on the 744. NYC serves more cities.

But They could decide ATL is a better fit going forward.

True - I believe that the 744 is to be used for South America and MAC charters as well as other flying .....good news as of a few weeks ago, the 744 is in the fleet indefinitely.

That would be good news!!!!
