How high and below the ALV can your line be?

The line construction window (LCW) is +/- 7.5hrs however it can never be lower than 65hrs.

We should do like Fedex and run a "Practice" AE to see where everyone wants to go... *:)

I could see too many games being played with it though because it's so serious to so many people but i like the idea. Maybe they should say bid opens 10th, sometime after the 21st we will run the bid and if it looks like it will require too much training and displacements then we may tweak the bid. Otherwise we will run it. So basically it'd force people to bid early and bid like they mean it. But that might not work either. I guess they can just cancel it if they don't like it but that'd be a real mess too. We will need a 767 flying between hubs to handle deadheading.*

I guess it could be low if everyone asked for max credit but I'm sure people would rather do a ATL-BNA-ATL two day on white slip or green slip then be commited to max credit. So hopefully the lines exceed estimated.*

*
FTB,
*
I am not sure if it works that way. *I think the max credit relies on some people requesting min credit. *For example, If there are 100 lines and 7200 hours the ALV would be 72.*
*
So if everyone were to request max credit it would seem to be self defeating because contractually the ALV has to within a window, so it could not award everyone max credit without raising the ALV and lowering the number of lines as you suggest. *Now if half the guys request min credit the other half could get max credit without raising the ALV.
*
Then again I could be 100% wrong on this issue.
*
Scoop

Scoop, that makes a lot of sense to me. So I guess if everyone bid max credit then they'd only get alv as that was the max credit possible?*

.

I would think that some of the increase in actual line holders could be attributed to junior pilots with vacation, that wouldn't typically be able to hold a line, but since they have some carry-in credit, they can get within the LCW. I don't think that it would account for 45 pilots, but should be a few.

So not to be devious or anything, but say you're DAL-S living in SEA or PDX commuting to SLC 88 A and you want to be SEA based. So in order to become SEA based do you not bid on this AE but put a MD in for the 330 above all other choices?

The reason I ask, I just wonder if the company will notice a lot of red flags as to training costs if someone had the seniority to pull said MD bid and would get A330 but the A330 is supposedly going east and ERs coming west so thats going to be double training costs in short order.

Just wondering how they'd handle that, I would guess you get two types in short order.

----------------------
How about you are a JFK777A doing the same commute - now you (MD) displace to SEA 330A. How many training events did you just create?

I agree about the practice bid. I think if DAL ran a practice bid, they would decide it is in their best interest to do the gigundo mofiggley bid with all the proposed chess pieces moving.

Pratice bids

Guys,

In theory the practice bid should be a good thing. In reality, even though FedEx would have two practice bids with published results, it quickly devolved into a mondo head game.

Guys always trying to "game" their buddies and gain a bid advantage . In the end, FedEx would simply cancel the bid if they didn't like the results.

Been there, done that..........

Practice Bid

So, in the end, would the real bid ever look anything close to what the practice bids forecasted?

Unrelated question......
How can you find out if a flight is payload optimized? My sister is attempting to get home tonight from SA. If anyone has a number, please PM me.
