Dal(S) guys can you help a not so smart North guy out. Where can I find a list of categories and nomenclature, i.e. Minneapolis 320 FO is listed as MSP320B. I know with the 75 on the North side it is different then the South side.

I know this is probably in a TWG note pad but I am just back from Mil Leave and trying to catch up.

Now for some conjecture. Big picture I would like some opinions on what is going to happen in the different bases. I am not looking for any "all the North guys are headed south and I am going to get screwed" talk. The SLI is over we all took some hits it is time to move forward.

Since I have not been through an AE I am not even sure what to guess.

Discuss....

Now, its not 100% accurate as I believe if I put ATL 88 B then it shows up for the guys junior to me as if someone from another category has it as their choice when in reality I already have it.

But you can put 744 A DTW and see how many people are going for it. FWIW.

I've always found that to be worthless in trying to figure out if you'll get a bid or to which category.

Assuming it's the same as it used to be, it shows you how many folks have a particular airplane as one of their top 3 choices. Lots of MD88Bs used to have 777A,765A,7ERA,etc listed before they got to the 73NB that they might actually get. They won't show up because 73NB isn't in the top 3.
On the other side of the coin is a guy who has a top 50% restriction. He's nowhere near his trigger, but he does show up on the list.

Clear as mud? Bid what you want, want what you bid!

I wonder how many MSP 320 guys commute from the west coast, will just go to SLC?

I also wonder how many NYC 777 guys will go to DTW?

NYC has so many factors affecting it, I can't even begin to guess where it will wind up seniority wise.

My guess is that the "middle of the country" bases (DTW, MSP, CVG, and MEM) are going to get more junior.

Actually, that does help.

Basically, sounds like a person has to consider what AE they want now and all MDs scenarios and then bid accordingly. Trying to guess where it will go based off of peoples top 3 is a waste of time.

Dont AE it if you do not want it right now and MD the WHOLE system according to your preferences.

I think when the AE is posted they're all listed on it. Here's the list lifted from the Jan ALVs:

747
777
765
330
7ER
755
767
73N
320
M88
DC9

The AE bid template won't let you put in an invalid base/aircraft combo.

I am wondering that same thing. I like reserve and I hope that it will work in my favor and I'll get the SLC320B. I am very junior though...

Will the AE also tell us which of these is in each base? Or do we have to try and put it in the template and get rejected before we know? I for one don't have a complete grasp of what DAL S AC fly out of each of the DAL S bases...

There may be a better way to get all the categories but you can go to Crew Resources and Scheduling and check the Dec bid awards. The company nomenclature is there. You have to check the mock bids as well to get the 755, and DC-9. A is capt B is FO.

I don't know what's going to happen on the bid but it's a safe bet that the south and west gets more senior and your seniority goes further the further north you go.

I totally agree. It seems like a great tool, but there is too much unknown information. As Sailing pointed out several pages ago, many pilots will change their preferences close to when the AE ends.

I would also suggest if you use the restrictions (regular line, percentage, etc.) understand what they mean and consider them carefully.

As of right now you can put in all of the current categories and it takes it. I put in 320 B MSP and it accepted. But if you put in 765 NYC or 320 SLC then it doesn't take that since it doesn't exist yet.
