Yup, I get an extra vacation every year with a PD or APD. I level my hours at 80 a month. Over 80 goes into the bank for discretionary purposes. There are a lot of situations that benefit from having time available to manipulate, both VACB and FSB. You can take risks by dropping trips for GSs if you know you can cover a shortfall or just set yourself up for more time off.

I'm surprised more don't do it this way, to be honest.

I was thinking same thing. I can't remember last time I broke 75 hours. Of course I'm a commuter.

Pay, credit is usually 45-50. 14 days of work and 92 this month. Work the shoulders, coast the peak months. In base, I make more AND have more time off, on reserve. I’ll never commute again.

Only way I'm doing more than 75 is if I get a greenslip. I fly with tons of captains who consistently do 85-90hrs a month at straight pay. Blows my mind, but to each their own!

A wise man once told me “When your kids get older, they’ll never say ‘Dad, you should have worked more.’”

They might...when they’re trying to pay for college.

No kidding. Time with family is way more important, imo.
