This is completely incorrect. Please get a copy of the contract and the scheduling reference guide put out by the union. The exemption applies only to short call not long call.

A long call pilot: a. must be available for contact by Crew Scheduling at any time while on-call. b. must be able to report for an assigned rotation which reports no earlier than 12 hours from the first attempted contact by Crew Scheduling. c. can be converted to short call no earlier than 12 hours from the first attempted contact by Crew Scheduling and will be released from duty during the 12 hours immediately preceding the start of his short call period.

Here is the exemption:
Note: For NYC-based pilots, short-call availability may be measured from the pilot's closest co-terminal (EWR, LGA, JFK), without regard to the actual co-terminal to which he may be required to report. An NYC reserve pilot on short call who is assigned a rotation reporting in EWR will be reimbursed for up to $100 of actual transportation expenses to EWR. For LAX-based pilots, short-call availability is measured from LAX.

Thank you for posting this, many people do not understand this portion. There is a ton of misinformation out there. Biggest take away, if you do your best to follow the contract, the company will not make much of a fuss. When I lived north of the city a few years ago, it could take me 20 minutes to get to lga or 2 hours. Scheduling knows this and plans according. Now getting from parking to the airport is a different story.

From my understanding, they are.

Have actual proof of this? That someone was out of position?

I'll be your CPO has some examples for you.

I doubt very much the pilot who was eventually assigned the trip felt he was “screwed.”

If another pilot is out of position on long/short call, that’s a discussion between him and his CP.

Sorry but I question the validity of this. With so little info given and after talking with so many guys that don’t understand the reserve system I have a hard time buying it. Could be a bunch of reasons they move to the next guy, especially if they are #2 on the list.

How is this getting screwed?

If you've been at the reserve game for more than a few months, it's not hard to figure it out. It's even easier when you figure out who commutes...and I'm not talking one of type events. If it walks like a duck...

Anyone know when the vacation awards usually come out?

A message for pilots sitting reserve. Be where you are supposed to be. If you're on long call be available in 12 hours. If on shortcall be promptly available. You’re not screwing the company when you don’t honor your obligation. You’re screwing your fellow pilots.

Maybe, maybe not. Maybe I got a greenslip because some reserve was out of position and didn't cover the trip.

The Crew Resources webpage says that the weeks available for the next round will be posted by the 12th. Since the 11th is a Saturday I'm betting on tomorrow.

What’s the rules for donating blood? My friend google says 24hours off above 200mL but I couldn’t find company specific information on the DeltaNet.

TIA

Travel companion

Here’s a little thread revival for TLAG which had slid nearly to the bottom of the 2nd page. Seeing as it is a good place to post unsubstantial questions, please permit me to query about the vague nuances of travel companion benefits. Booking flights through TravelNet on Delta and Delta Connection flights is pretty straight forward. However, when I go to Interline Travel, I don’t see my companion included with me and my remaining pass riders. Is there a process to add them or is Interline Travel something travel companions are ineligible to do? Thank you!

I believe it’s done via the self service section on deltanet.

Are you talking about using Zed fares for them?

Companions might not be eligible, but parents and children are on most airlines (some, like KLM won't allow parents to use Zed fares but they are a stand-out. Almost everyone else allows it).
