Bingo. I haven’t understood why the company is fighting us on things like DH and crew meals and hotels. If we are fed, watered and rested there is a lot we can do to help when the operation goes bad.

They fight us on the low/no cost items, so they have something to give away in negotiations. "OK ALPA, you drive a hard bargain. You get crew meals, DH improvents and more say in hotel selection. We'll just reshuffle the scope clause to even things out".

What if the negotiators called out fatigued?

In 1849, French writer Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr wrote “plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose “ – the more things change, the more they stay the same… Turbulent changes do not affect reality on a deeper level other than to cement the status quo.

Get use to it. Same thing they're were doing 40 years ago. Hold the line.

Check your emails. I am thoroughly impressed by the new Done By One Initiative. I believe it will turn out to be a much more efficient and productive way to train pilots

Sounds like more self taught material, for no extra pay of course. Pushing more stuff to the tablet and shorter time with an instructor.

This was my take as well. And I raise the BS flag on no change to throughput….in fact I might be inclined to call that a flat out lie.

This has zero to do with quality and 100% to do with throughput

More sim sessions in IQ footprint, no additional periods in a day, shorter periods, stage check fails don’t count towards the 6 retrain days… where are you seeing the extra throughput?

I intrinsically harbor skepticism too, but I saved that purely for the commitment for no FO/FO combinations.

I'm getting it from every communication I ever received on the topic....before this one. Which pointed out that done by one would increase sim capacity by 15 ish percent. Each department is increasing (or trying to) instructor manning to cover the additional events

Currently Es can only be filled by new hires and west coast based folks for CQ. Which leaves many empty slots.

ITs called "done by one"....to allow five full periods per day that comply with PWA.

Nothing whatsoever to do with quality, it's all quantity

For clarity, I don't think it's the end of the world, but the email is utterly disingenuous

Its called doing more with less. Nothing new or ground breaking here. Everyday feels more and more like the military during a downsizing.
