Reserves do not get double pay.

I had a question now that the ER catagories are picking up more and more domestic, do they have two SCs? One for sitting for domestic at 12 hrs like all the other domestic jets and one 24 for international or is it just 24 still and you can get called onto a domestic?

NO, we do not. And its a big freakin' deal if you ask me. For some reason it has slipped by for years as ATL ER has had a bunch of domestic stuff...but I'm guessing its slipped by because the lion's share of dudes sitting ATL ER reserve live there.

ER categories all allow for a 24 hour short-call period. Which is afu, period. This should be fixed, not in the next contract, but in a side letter if you ask me.

If the company can continually come to us and seek contract addendum's via LoA's, then we should be able to close loopholes in a reserve policy created before certain realities of our Int'l categories came to be.

But I'm just a caveman pilot. And I better not hear, "we'll have to give something back" from ANY union dude on this board over this idea.

My understanding is, in an ER category, you sit 24 hr shortcall the first 12 of which you can be assigned domestic flying. The second 12 hr period you are capable of being sent on a international trip.

The reason for the 12 hr domestic limitation is the "Whitlow" letter.

And yes, it needs to be fixed!

Just another thing only reserve pilots experience so the majority of the pilots who have lines don't care about and therefor is not really brought up.

I am trying to bid to a lower paying position that does not show any vacancies on this AE. Am I wasting my time or might I get it through displacements? Also it asks me some questions about PVAC, SVAC, TVAC and QVAC. I know they are about Vacation things but what does each stand for?

Trust me. I'm gonna get bumped out of my seat on this Advanced Diaplacement, and I will be going to a category where I will be fairly senior. It won't get dropped as far as I am concerned. Our reserve system blows, and I don't care what the alpa bubbas say about it being better than any out there. It is bad, it abrogates seniority, and needs to be fixed. Period. Rant over.

How far down the list are you in your category? You COULD get bumped to another category even though there aren't any vacancies listed. This is the example of just how big this bid is going to be. There will be pilots moving to categories all over the place. As far as your vacations go... if you are as junior in category as I am, you will probably get crappy vacations, and the great news is that you get to keep those crappy vacations even if you are number 1 in your new category. So we have that going for us....

So does the scope clause cover charters at wholly owned carriers just like it does scheduled operations?
