WEBER , 12.31.09, 09:43 AM EST http://ads.forbes.com/RealMedia/ads/...partner=alertshttp://ads.forbes.com/RealMedia/ads/...partner=alerts ATLANTA -- Delta Air lines has received government permission to operate its namesake service and its Northwest Airlines subsidiary as a single carrier. The single operating certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration allows Delta to put its code on Northwest flights and phase out the Northwest name. That process will be complete in the first quarter of 2010. For now, travelers won't notice anything different. Delta, based in Atlanta, acquired Northwest in October 2008 to become the world's biggest airline. A Delta executive said in a memo to employees Thursday that Delta and Northwest are now one airline. It means that for the first time, pre-merger Northwest operations will be combined into Delta's operations. |

Terrorist Extremely Annoyed By Delayed Flight
CHICAGO–His flight from O'Hare to LaGuardia delayed more than six hours, Hamas militant and would-be suicide bomber Nidal Hanani vowed never again to fly United Airlines. "I do not have time for this," said Hanani, seated at a Burger King in Concourse C, a plastic-explosives-filled duffel bag at his feet. "My jihad against the West was supposed to be carried out shortly after takeoff at 8:35 this morning. It is now 2:50 p.m. How much longer must I sit around this airport like an idiot before God's will is done?" more at the onion.com including this article: Michael Vick Fails To Inspire Team With 'Great' Dogfighting Story... PHILADELPHIA—Michael Vick's pregame pep talk Sunday, in which he recounted the events of a brutal 2004 dogfight between his pit bull terrier Zebro and rival pit bull Maniac, failed to inspire his teammates in any way whatsoever, Eagles team sources reported |
Some more good news,
Delta has sold the Delta Connection Academy. It will stop using our name in 9 months! |

AS stock right now is a lot hiring than ours, and they have over $1 billion in cash. It would be a cash transfer to pay off our own debt coming up here. That is key. RA wants to use their cash to pay off our own debt. Merge them in, pay off their management, and use their cash. There would be very little Government opposition, since there is very little route overlap.

ALK's stock value is around $1.24 billion. Delta could use Alaska's $1 billion in cash and only have to pony up $240 million. However, I do think there would have to be an incentive to the ALK shareholders so who knows how I the value would be. Either way, we would finally have a West Coast presence!
