In reality, many of these all hinge on JAL. JAL deal or no deal GUM waiting for approval of a base. Anywhere between 150-300 pilots New aircraft. That is a real deal. Total of over 40 MD-90s (does not include the JAL 90's) Maybe some more and bigger ones, but once again it is based on the JAL deal Hiring, short term the JAL deal will decide this as well. A few others that had not made it here, but they are real too! When will we get the 90's? will these fill the retiring 9's or be added metal? when should we know about the JAL deal? |

when should we know about the JAL deal? You know about the JAL deal when JAL decides to let the world know. It is the Asian way. |

A little of both I would assume.

1) Just because something about a deal was mentioned, doesn't mean it involves the airline, or the planes, or the crews. Maybe they have some gates we need, and we have something they need.
2) Look up Spirit's route structure. It looks like almost 100% overlap. Seems to me it would be awkward, if anything else was in front of DOT or DOJ at the same time, to try for a full acquisition. 3) As said above, what friends say in front of any transaction doesn't matter. Everyone would look up their insurance policy, and find out it's underwritten by ...ALPA's Merger Policy (TM). 4) This is about as much writing as this one deserves, for now. |

Depends. Some may not hit the line until fall or even next year. (of the ones announced) |

I was talking to one of our training guys the other day (in the MSP lounge for publication help). One of the old wiz kids named Phil Haun is back (a real senior VP back when he was in his 30s) and he is heading up a project to update everything IT. Obviously a multi year project. Guess he has somewhere around $200 million just to get started
Ferd I have met Phil on numerous occasions, he is smart, and will tell you the straight scoop. Rumor has it, he was sacked initially because he was a litttle too vocal about trying to save Cargo. |
Cargo may be a Phoenix. Time will tell.

According to SD the first ac from Hello air is being modded with the seat back entertainment system. The seats with the screens arent certified for the MD so FAA testing to get the STC. He thought we would have the STC in the next few months... We bought 12 Chinese MD90 apparently a done deal but we wont start modding them until we get the STC. Delta BOD a few months ago upped the authorization for buying MD90 from 35 to 65 aircraft. DAL has 16 MD90. 16 plus 65 = 81 aircraft Thats a good size fleet on par with the -800 Fact for the day: 110 total MD90 were built. 29 MD90 are at Saudi Arabian with the glass cockpit and MD11 style overhead. 81 plus 29 = 110, basically the BOD has authorized purchasing every MD90 ever made except for the 29 glass models... SD said we are getting them for 5-7M a piece which jives with Allegiant reporting on paying 4M a piece for the SAS MD80s On JAL: If they restructure the company without a foreign equity infusion by DAL or AMR my money is on the DAL/JAL JV happening with a much reduced JAL... AMR just can't match the feed DAL/Skyteam can provide. Cheers George |
