Would it be too much to hope for the USS Missouri?
That was the sight of the Japanese surrender for WWII. |

Tell me what Battleship that is! I'd say thats the USS Wisconsin. But I just saw Sherlock Holmes last night and let me see if there is something deeper going on here. The picture looks modern and so I'd say its Iowa class so either Wisconsin, Missouri, Iowa (below) or New Jersey. So are we going to war in WI, MO, IA or NJ? So maybe NJ? EWR? http://fotosa.ru/stock_photo/Brand%20X_JI/p_407423.jpg |

It's one that was tremendously effective when active from 1945 through 1973. When reactivated in a post deregulation environment it looked really cool as the lead ship of a surface action group, but wound up killing more of its own sailors than the enemy. It use, expense, and lack of efficacy caused tremendous division inside the US Navy. Ultimately it was retired. It is still looked upon fondly by the battleship admirals and armchair warriors, but it has been supplanted in modern naval warfare by air and submarine power.
Yup, the analogy is still good!:D So what ship was it? You just described a few of these boats. We spent a lot of money bringing them out of mothballs. |

I'd bump my head. I went on the USS Ashville once and that's all I could manage to do.

Well I did not know there was a USS Jimmy Carter. Wow. SSN-23. Do they say "The Mighty Jimmy Carter!" ? Sorry, I know he was Navy.
Wisconsin's largest city is MKE. Do I need a ouija board or something here? |
