Buzz,

Glad to hear your MSP experience went well over all. The pilots were most likely, as you said, playing the crowd. Just entertaining the FA's per say. However, we do have a handful of pilots here at DAL N that just ain't happy unless they are b!tch!ng. ;)

And the FA's here at DAL N often do try to figure how they can go illegal and get out of the next days flying. It's kind of sad to watch.

The MSP airport does have a wide variety of food options, which is always nice. It's a nice airport, and the snow doesn't slow us Northies down. After all, we play in it all the time. ;) Detroit moves very quickly too.

I'm heading to LAX tomorrow, and looking forward to the warmth.

Cheers

I LOVE MSP's food options. Subway.... Maui Taco. I'm getting hungry. Plus it's a really nice airport, and I've got a huge amount of memories there.

ATL has had more than the usual snow events...which makes for more than the usual idiocy. Apparently the complete lack of deice capacity has to do with the city/county not approving the drainage for additional deice areas.

It's awesome seeing DTW and MSP during winter weather... just a slight delay behond normal ops.

So I'm on the crew bus in Orlando, sharing a ride with a North crew. My captain, making conversation, asks of the Northers, "So, how's it going so far? Any issues with the merger?"

The North pilots get this hangdog look while their lead FA winds up with, "You want to hear about my issues? Well, I've got issues."

I jump in: "Actually, I only listen to my wife's issues."

She stares daggers at me, but I drink for free that night. :)

I've been commuting through Detroit lately and stopped by the crew lounge the other day. Nice set up, like the Stopover Store, and nobody beat me up. Of course since the uniform change ya can't tell if your blue or grey unless you wear your sign. :D

I did find it ironic that the Pepsi loving Northies had a Coke machine while us Southerners have a stinking Pepsi machine in JFK...

80,
The whole ATL airport deal is a mess. With the manager leaving maybe we will see some marked improvements.

That said, the whole issue with deice happened about eight years ago when the found de-ice fluid in College Park's water supply. That just added levels upon levels of bureaucracy to the whole issue.

ATL is a mess. Got an earful from a BA crew yesterday on the train. They had a 1 +45 time from block-in to crew bus.

On another note, if this is the year of the customer, maybe its time to cut the lazy give a sh!t attitudes from the gate agents and ground crews. Can't count the number of times I've had to interrupt a gate agent while she was texting instead of boarding, driving the jetway or "assisting" passengers!

Hey Acl, any updates on your predictions from december? We all hold you in high regards Buddy!

AS(Alaska) soon.
JAL should be ours
100 seater shortly
new wide bodies
base closure
one if not two new base openings in 2010.
Old base will be getting lots of flights soon

When all of this comes out in short order it will make your heads swim.

AS(Alaska) soon. waiting, but in process. Buddies over there are getting very worried. I say why, DAL gets more benefit from not owning them, but it does open up a large section to our route network to attack
JAL should be oursthere is still blood in the water
100 seater shortlythere is movement on this, but not worth starting a food fight over. The JAL/Aisa deal takes more priority and threw it on the back burner--delayed the decision
new wide bodiesin process
base closureER in CVG announced rebound has saved the rest temporarily. MEM is doing the RJ thing like DFW did, be wary
one if not two new base openings in 2010. One has been pushed in to 2011, might still happen this year as it depends on one of the above, and the other depends on one of the other ones above
Old base will be getting lots of flights soonsee above and is dependent on one of the other items not listed above.

Short order means months to years, not days to weeks which is normally the attention span of a pilot. Water is calm on top, but do not dive down to far because the current will kick you butt. Things have been quiet for a reason! :D

Trust me when I state, that there is a lot coming down the pike. If you have been here long enough you know that things ebb and flow. The announcement a few weeks ago need to be dealt with as many of the rumored plans were based upon some of this stuff.

That is all I will say. Back to RJ bashing.

BA does not get the escort like our Skyteam counterparts do. They get a gate agent that walks them from jet to van, and then van to jet on the return.

All of them have to get pictures and fingerprints taken. Getting behind one of their crews makes you want to do crew pass!

All in all, I'd rather see the "hot chick" pictures posted rather than the fish.

Maybe that's just me. :-)
