As a soon-to-be MSP commuter, did you happen to see the crew lounge? How are they set up for quiet rooms/recliners?

Ask around for directions and the door code when you get to MSP. Crew lounge has 2-3 computers (There is a much larger computer room outside security with 20+ computers if you really need to get on one.) About 10 recliners and bag storage in the crew lounge. There is a very nice (read dark/quiet) sleep room with cubicles for sleeping down the hall, on the way to the stopover store. I think it has 5 or 6 recliners, one per cubicle. As far as bag storage, ask around, but it seems like I'm always learning about a new closet on the concourse where you can ditch your bag for a few hours.

Nice place to commute to. If you are stuck at the airport or have a several hour productivity sit, you can take the light rail to the mall of america for a few bucks. It's nice to be able to get out of the airport if you have to.

Thanks for the heads up!

The crew room (take the elevator by gate F-5) contains a number of recliners, a TV and computers. There is a separate quiet room a little further down the hall. If you get to the Stopover Store, you passed everything. I won't post the door code here, but just ask somebody.

Alligator Gar

People actually try to wrestle these things out of the rivers here....

Thats pretty ugly. What the heck do you do with that thing? Eat it? Barf.

I once found a dead 3-4' gar that had floated to the surface while I was jetskiing at a friends. By the end of the day the ugly fish I had told everyone about had come ashore at their dock. Lots of screams.

fwiw, that india mutant catfish is very ugly.

Mets Beer Vendor, 85, Strikes Out in Age Bias Suit | NBC New York

For some reason this reminded me of what you said, this is the story of an 85 year old woman who sued for age discrimination because she was replaced by a younger woman at a beer stand at the mets stadium. The younger woman was 75. The judge tossed it out.

The only way you'd be fishing for that thing is with an outrigger.... It probably weighs as much as a bass boat!!

Spent a bunch of time down there in December waiting for a broken plane.

Everyone was extremely nice, and once they found out we were Deltoids had plenty of questions (mostly about Phase 5, manuals, landings, iCrew and all the other huge changes northies had to endure), and were extremely cordial. Definitely a good place to hang out waiting during a sit. They have the snazzy laser printers only instead of the ribbon ones... I've gotten so used to my old school ribbon printers that printing out the rotation as it updated on the laser ones was kind of obnoxious with all the paper it wasted for that limited amount of font. The new new school is the old school maybe? :) Long live the ribbon.

Too bad it was a Sunday and the stopover store was closed.

Here's my two cents worth. I just spent a 5 day flying what I imagine was a former NWA 320 type trip. It didn't start well. On our first layover in MSP, the airport Holiday Inn, my CA and I were the only former DAL guys on the crew van full of former NWA. The *****ing and complaining (about the merger) was unbelievable. Most of the angst was coming from FA's and not pilots although the 4 pilots on board the van were weighing in sort of. They ended up being great guys and I think were only playing to the crowd. The FAs were vocally trying to figure out how NOT to fly the next day's rotations.

The airport at MSP is fantastic. Takes awhile to get to the crew bus when you're done but a very nice, clean airport with great gate crews. The eating possibilities far outweigh anything you'll find in ATL or any other DAL hub. The people are so nice you'll be amazed that you ever trafficked ATL.

The next time through, two days later, yielded similar crew angst on the van and in the hotel. I went down to the Holiday Inn restaurant/bar for a glass of wine and a salad. Again, fnwa crews were complaining about the end game, the merger. I'm sure there must be a lot of disappointment and chaos that comes with changing your culture. Still, I was thinking about the big picture. We have jobs, we're the world's largest airline, stock is on the rise, and we have nothing but remarkable things in store.

Also, I had to deice in MSP the other day. Man, do you guys have that down! The most professional and expedient deicing I have ever encountered in over 27 years of flying.

Hey DSouth guys. They got it going on up there. Still, I couldn't pull the trigger on Walleye or lutefisk (whatever the hell that is).

Buzz,

Glad to hear your MSP experience went well over all. The pilots were most likely, as you said, playing the crowd. Just entertaining the FA's per say. However, we do have a handful of pilots here at DAL N that just ain't happy unless they are b!tch!ng. ;)

And the FA's here at DAL N often do try to figure how they can go illegal and get out of the next days flying. It's kind of sad to watch.

The MSP airport does have a wide variety of food options, which is always nice. It's a nice airport, and the snow doesn't slow us Northies down. After all, we play in it all the time. ;) Detroit moves very quickly too.

I'm heading to LAX tomorrow, and looking forward to the warmth.

Cheers
