You thought our SLI was ugly. Wait till the FAs list gets merged and they become one. That whole union/non union merger is going to be a real cat fight. (get it, cat fight, I'll be here all week folks!)

Walleye - delicious whitefish that is probably one of the better freshwater fish that you will eat. Pull the trigger next time.

Lutefisk - Whitefish (not walleye) cured in lye until it has a texture similar to jelly. Definitely DO NOT pull the trigger.

MSP is a great place, as long as you can get past the cold, which I imagine would not so tough for all you ATL folks after this winter. Just wait for the summer, and you'll wish you were based here.

Once you've spent a little time in the cockpit with some of us, it'll be interesting to discuss them. Since I think you're going to live in a fenced world for several years, we'll have to wait. As we do so, maybe we can forgego this distraction about who is "more militant", since we're not just allies, but actually family now?

Maybe you can stop talking about who has the genetic make-up for battle, and focus instead about how to accomplish this?

I know there are some on this board, Tomcat for instance, that are headed to training and an airplane of the other group. To all of them either N or S, you're tasked with making the first line impression and so make it a good one and get this thing started off on the right foot.

Man, the Canadians seem to be singing their closing ceremony songs a bit louder thanks to their 3-2 win. If regular hockey was that good I'd watch it more often.

Here's my two cents worth. I just spent a 5 day flying what I imagine was a former NWA 320 type trip. It didn't start well. On our first layover in MSP, the airport Holiday Inn, my CA and I were the only former DAL guys on the crew van full of former NWA. The *****ing and complaining (about the merger) was unbelievable. Most of the angst was coming from FA's and not pilots although the 4 pilots on board the van were weighing in sort of. They ended up being great guys and I think were only playing to the crowd. The FAs were vocally trying to figure out how NOT to fly the next day's rotations.

The airport at MSP is fantastic. Takes awhile to get to the crew bus when you're done but a very nice, clean airport with great gate crews. The eating possibilities far outweigh anything you'll find in ATL or any other DAL hub. The people are so nice you'll be amazed that you ever trafficked ATL.

The next time through, two days later, yielded similar crew angst on the van and in the hotel. I went down to the Holiday Inn restaurant/bar for a glass of wine and a salad. Again, fnwa crews were complaining about the end game, the merger. I'm sure there must be a lot of disappointment and chaos that comes with changing your culture. Still, I was thinking about the big picture. We have jobs, we're the world's largest airline, stock is on the rise, and we have nothing but remarkable things in store.

Also, I had to deice in MSP the other day. Man, do you guys have that down! The most professional and expedient deicing I have ever encountered in over 27 years of flying.

Hey DSouth guys. They got it going on up there. Still, I couldn't pull the trigger on Walleye or lutefisk (whatever the hell that is).

Welcome to the great white north. Yeap the FAs ae really negative because of the union vote, etc. I tend not to pay them much attention as you should not either. They were pretty brutal to each other in the old merger- glueing doors shut and the works but they got over it with time. Yes you are going to get an ear full about the merger because we like to always sing about our troubles. Would not take it personally, probably folks just blowing off steam. Time will cure this as well. Enjoy the msp base.

Buzz,

I invite you to go ahead and "pull the trigger" on the attempt at eating Lutefisk. (Where's 80kts or FTB when ya need them to insert a picture of Clint Eastwood in "Dirty Harry") :D Just remember one thing.....LOTS & LOTS OF MELTED BUTTER!!! (Drowns out the taste, or lack thereof.)

By the way, it's an "acquired" taste. As "rough landings" mentioned its a "white fish", a filet of "COD" actually, cured in lye. Has the consistency of "soaked bread".

Fly safe,

GJ

yum! thats satch on the right... the man is not afraid to go noodling, just look at his smile! There ought to be a "when noodling goes wrong" tv special.

now if you really want to see a disgusting and ugly fish, you ought to see the catfish mutant that was killing people in india after years of feeding on human corpses. google: mutant catfish in india.

Maybe its not wise to toss bodies after funerals into the local rivers/water supply/sewer system?
