I just downloaded the PDF Reader app from Kdan Mobile for $0.99 from the app store. Pretty nice file management system, and while it lacks a search function, it does have an outline feature for the PWA and most of the other large PDF files with outlines that will link you directly to the section you're looking for (assuming the searcher has a general idea of what he's looking for :D)

Also, you can move files to your phone w/out iTunes via wifi, download, or email which is very convenient, especially the wifi server option. Pretty good investment of $0.99 considering I can now leave the PWA binder and When Scheduling Calls at home.

Is scheduling allowed to assign back-to-back short-call days? Do they give early releases from short-call on a day before an X-day?

Our long-call/short-call system just hosed me. There are a lot of pilots with lower raw scores than me sitting long-call that haven't done a short-call this month. I've now been assigned for 2 short-calls and I've flown a 2-day trip outside my short-call periods. A late short-call on my last day is what really ****es me off after working 9 of the last 10 days. I can't find anything about early releases from short-call in the contract. I know the answer to my first question, but I'm still hoping the answer is no.

I had six days ON back in Dec and got 5 SCs and then a day trip. So yes they can do it and sometimes people request it to burn off SC days. They held on to the 6th SC all month though. I tried to burn it but they wouldn't let me.

Talking to ATL 7ER reserve guys lately, and all aren't flying very much if at all. I don't think ACL has flown in over a month!

Its vacation time for the ER reserves. Then when everyone else is on a vacation the ER guys are getting 23 hour 3-day greenslips left and right.

I once did three SCs back to back. Not bad since I lived in base then. Now that I commute, it would definitely suck.

On average how much notice to report for a flight do you guys get when sitting SC?

Scheduling will usually release you up to 2 hours before the end of your SC period but its up to them and not contractual in any way. I say "usually" because if there are IROPS happening anywhere in the system, there is a good chance that they wont release you early - even going into x days. What it boils down to is give scheduling a call and ask.

The shortest SC notice that I have been given so far (in two years of sitting reserve) has been 3 hours. They called me at 0430 (the start of my SC period) for an 0730 report.

I have been given 45 minutes on one occasion and 40 minutes on another. They had no expectations that I would make it in that time frame. I did the best I could, which was two hours. No problems.

Yep, if you live in ATL they seem to know that. Best I can do it 1+20 to the crew room, so in reality 2 hrs is a good bet. (Make sure pubs are current before going to jet. Remember that only the jeps are allowed to be out revisions that has post dates that are in the past. This holds true for Vol1, and FOM bulletins. )

As for 7ERB, looks like one to two trips a month. Normally domestic, but occasionally international.
