SIDE QUESTION:
Now that the JAL deal is dead, how is that going to affect the 67s going to SEA? |

ALSO THE COMPANY JUST PUT UP A LINK ON DELTANET FOR EMPLOYEES TO SEND A LETTER TO THEIR REPRESENTATIVES IN REGARDS TO OUR REQUEST FOR HANEADA ACCESS. IT TAKES ALL OF 20 SECONDS TO FILL OUT YOUR INFO AND IT DOES THE REST. |

I agree, gaining access to Haneda, and LGA benefits you the pilots of Delta Air Lines, Inc.
How? More flights, which equates to more block hrs, which equates to a need for more big jets which equates to more jobs. |

T... you got post 29615 from handsome me, but you missed my dribbling post 29704:
Colors added for attention. imho, we (speaking about all Delta pilots here) should all be concerned about what happens at the top (i.e. widebody scope) and if you're not then you're nuts or clueless. Now, by whatever measure you classify the bottom dwellers (<250, <500, <1000, <5000, etc), we are gravely concerned about regional scope because we fear it might be erroded for a supposed gain elsewhere. Not only that, but there might be a justification for it that many buy. Now, for our sake we need the guys at the top (>50%?) that honestly don't have to be concerned but we bottom feeders really need them to be if we're going to prevent any scope erosion. As Captains' and a few in the training department are fond of telling me as a warning "this is a Captains airline" and if you're going to make anything better you have to have the Captains involved and not just the 500 hour wonder boys on the bottom of the list... although we don't have any 500 hour wonder boys. I think I've been consistent in my posts and if thats not what has been conveyed then I apologize. As to the Airbus-Embraer thing, it happened to me once on the ER and I've had similiar conversations on the 88. I promise you I'm not making that up. The good thing is that it normally only takes a second to explain what the Ejets are for guys not to like why they're there. I've not necessarily had the conversations Satch has posted but I'd agree bringing back pensions are probably the #1 goal of more people then I would've thought although I'd guess its a tiny fraction. As to single issue voters, including us on the bottom concerned about scope, here is a warning - would you ever buy a car based just on what your monthly payment is? btw, we're approaching 30,000. Uh... well, I uh... hmmmmm I guess it was.. damn. I have the flu. Sorry. But I will say that I know nobody that wants a DB plan back.. at least on the south side. |

So, I was driving down the road today and figured out one way to put a face on the new airline business model for international market penetration and market share:
Delta: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_hN4HgmodzR...BellHillRd.jpg Delta/KLM/AF http://keetsa.com/blog/wp-content/up...c-tacobell.jpg Sky Team: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3187/...f78151ec0f.jpg Co-branding. Works great. More money per sq foot. Customers get variety. Employees get stability. Everyone happy. Unless you work in construction or didn't get that life long dream job of working at taco bell because there were only 5 jobs instead of 10. Now I'm not being anti-Sky Team or anti-JV/codeshare, its just going to get real murky on whose job that could've been and really ugly if planes start disappearing from the line because they're no longer needed. Do I think this is happening? No. But I do think its high level poker for DALPA and it'll be interesting to know how they feel it needs to be handled in the years going forward when say neither the current management or MEC is there. |
