So, I just finished my introductory flying on the -9 with AWABS and FPS. Three words: OH! MY! GOD!
You south guys have no idea how much simpler it can be to get an airplane out of the chocks and into the air. I'll leave it at that. It is what it is. For the guys who have not yet had the pleasure, you will stumble through it. The biggest inconvenience is the one piece of paper thing. You will not have any info in front of you. That's workable, but it also means you do not have a piece of paper to write on (like taxi instructions, new clearances, etc). You either need to buy a pad of paper to carry in your bag or remember to grab some off the printer on your way down the jetway. Learning curve = huge. |

I'm guessing you mean we only get one copy of the release? If this is the case it is a step backwards (albeit a relatively small one).
North paperwork includes 3 releases, one per pilot and one to leave signed with the agent. Most guys clip the release to their window (I personally use my trusty Sporty's kneeboard :-) and use it for scratch, plus you have all your flight plan/fuel/etc right in front of you rather than constantly playing "can I see the release for a second"? Maybe this could be a best practice that we could adopt from nwa. How hard would it be for dispatch to change the program to dupe off an extra copy? |

There is a reason that they do not print three releases, or two. It is simple, no release means the sucker is signed and gone. :D

Quick PBS question. IS there any look back to the month before? Reserve conditions say I need 3 days on call as the minimum, say I am on call the 31 of march and then again the 1 and 2nd of April, can I ask for the 3rd as an X day or does that not count becuase it is not 3 day block in Apr?

For your info 3 copies of ther release is 3 pages of paper or maybe 6 pages of paper, Every thing else is one copy. So plz try to post accurate information. I use my release probably 10-15 times a flt as well as writing down all important info about the flt on it. Sorry I might be involved in my flight to the point of want to have my own release. DIfference in culture. I guess the guy in the right seat is just a gear jerker and radio operator as he has no brain until he is a captain.
You are waaaaay out of line here. |

It does not matter how the ball drops, you will defend the union tooth and nail. Your stance on anything negative about the union is always very consistent. Good on you.
I read this guy's letter. What a bunch of hooey. His main beef is that he doesn't get to file his duty rig grievance. I wonder why. Maybe it was because the contract was written so that trip rigs didn't kick in until bid period 5. It says it right there in black and white. That language was voted on by the MEC and NWA pilot group. This whole case was a political sham, designed for some people to hold onto power for a while longer. We heard the same hooey about the "NWA me too" grievance. That was filed and the net result for the union was that we spent a bunch of money on lawyers and arbitration and didn't get a dime. I don't know why we should spend a bunch of money on a useless grievance but apparently this gentlemen thinks we should. No one else agrees with him. Now he writes a whine fest about how he didn't get his way. Boo hoo hoo. I made my comment before I read his letter, now that I have read it, it goes double. What a narcissist. |
