I'm deviating from my deadhead to start a trip soon. It's an NBA charter out of ATL. Since I won't be taking the limo from the hotel, does anyone have any idea how I should get to the FBO? Do FBO's usually pick up pilots from the main terminal? If I take a cab, will Delta reimburse me if I submit an expense report? What have pilots done in the past?

Just call Atlantic Aviation at 404-765-1300 and they will send a van to pick you up on the lower level area at Hartsfield.

Unless you have absolute confirmation from scheduling and crew accommodations, I would expect that any transfers and or hotels will be paid by you if you deviate.
That is why it is wise to DV8 only after you use what you need. :D

Just imho.

I would be surprised to see Sandy get divorced. Bitter custody battles can bring couples together!

Remember that she has a dog with three legs that she adopted. She likes sob stories.

Just sayin

That sucks. I didn't realize it was a charter when I deviated. What also sucks is that scheduling asked me if I needed my hotel when I told them I was deviating. I'm getting into ATL 4 hours before my flight so I said no. I didn't think it was worth the aggravation, but I would have had time to go to my room to catch the scheduled pick-up. I'll call Atlantic. If that doesn't work, I'll call dispatch and play dumb. Last resort is take a cab, then submit for re-reimbursement and hope for the best. I wouldn't deviate if my scheduled deadhead wasn't at 0545 in the morning for a 2300 flight that night. I feel that my way of sleeping in is better rest than waking up at 0430 in the morning and then trying to go back to sleep on my official rest in the middle of the day.

I agree. My point is that when you dv8 they have told me yes, transportation is sked from the hotel to the airport. I then go down stairs, where there is no van. I call and they play dumb. 40 bucks later I am running to my flight to find that they have also canceled my reservation.

My point will remain that make sure you confirm everything with the transportation company before you dv8. I have been told one thing by the third shift crew accommodations folks and then the next morning there is no record of it. Makes for a sporty day.

I have had a similar experience and I kept on pressing the 3rd shift person for the record locater for the dh, she had no idea what I was asking for. Told her to forget that I had ever called and took care of the dv8 with the morning shift and would not hang up without the record locator. I was the only one of 6 dh crewmembers on the flight that was actually listed and I got the best seat from the agent. :D

Will they positive space you if you deviate from a dh? I'm looking to do the same tomorrow, except it is at the end of a rotation. Thanks!
