Might work in MSP. He'll be tolerated politely in DTW, but with scattered eye rolls, but prompty dismissed as more spin. As I was explaining before being shouted down by the Southside Groupthink Commitee, the KW/Council 54 issues are a SYMPTOM of the problem, not the underlying cause.

I'm telling you, the MEC leadership/committee people from the southside do NOT understand the northside pilot group...at all. Whoever is feeding them info on how to "handle" us is doing it incorrectly or they are just plain asking the wrong people.

If they really want to fix the problem, then GET "advisors" who will tell you the truth, rather than what they want to hear.

Oh, yea, the committee structure is d!cked up too. They should answer to the MEC, and not the officers. There is WAY, WAY too much southside bureaucratic inertia...they need to change the way they do busniess to meet the expectations of the group.

IMHO, YMMV....

Nu

Nu,
I think you are incorrect in assuming "groupthink" from either side - North or South. Yes, there are some prevailing themes out there, but as each new bid comes out and the Pilots and bases get mixed - even these prevailing themes will tend to get diluted as guys interests change.

There are plenty of South guys who do not think the sun rises and sets with Lee and FWIW I just had a North guy on the jumpseat who was extremely negative about the Seattle guys (he was a Green book guy).

Bumped into a crew scheduler at Subway on Virg. ave. today.
He said 120+ Capt-s and 120+ FO's in SEA.
CVG ER categories closing.

Supposed to remain the same and be re-evaluated in 2011. But as we all know.........things can change tomorrow.

I asked about 12 people in variety of leadership positions and all said 330's stay, all ER talk will give extra positions. Otherwise .. there would be not much excitement :)

Will see what happens especially in 2011 when they re-evaluate, I guess.

If that happens, it's going to be a bugger of a commute if those guys chase the aircraft. Secondly, a lot of SLC 767 guys and LAX ER guys will probably flow back up north. Remember, DAL got rid of SEA and PDX, and downsized LAX. Many of those guys have just been waiting and hoping for this very thing to happen. Just a hunch.

Careful Waves, you don't want to get Pineapple fired up over more guys commuting. My guess is that alot of Sea guys that live there flying things in other bases will bid this but I don't think there are enough guys living there to fill those numbers. Ultimately, more commuters in the short run. But it may cut down on the guys commuting from west coast cities to east coast bases.

No way. Heck any guy that was kicked off the Freighter and could hold SEA, went to SEA even though they could hold the 744 in DTW. SEA will always be very senior.
