Couldn't agree more Sink as a now 6 month vet of reserve (after holding a line for a long time). Reserve is, at best, a crap shoot and I have no idea how the SC thing works, is supposed to work, doesn't work, etc. Some days I'm sure I'll get an SC and it doesn't happen. Other days, I'm coming off trips, have high raw, and I get the SC any way.

Two more tidbits.

Hawaiian Air is hiring.

Heard we had a SE incident in ATL.

Alright...dumb question.... What's gonna happen to our stock we got when our 401k gets changed next month? Anything? Nothing? Is it just our 200 funds that get squished into 20 funds? I don't want to wake up one morning and find that my shares were sold on me because someone else thinks they know best.

Thanks,

Hoserpilot

I am not saying that NWA pilots deserve what they got or that they are morons for trying it, or anything like that. I am simply stating that I thought it was a nonsensical term that, quite frankly, weakened your sides case. You obviously disagree and I respect your opinion. That is all.
Super,

Just because the term is in-artful, it doesn't mean the argument isn't grounded in reality. It is probably the same argument that we will use if we merge with Alaska. Although I am not married to it, I am not embarrassed by it either. For you to suggest that we should be, is unnecessary. Especially when offered in response to the mere mentioning of the term, with nothing else behind it.

The SLI stuff is over. What we do not need is for anyone to imply that anyone else should be embarrassed by what their MEC/Merger committee did or didn't do or what industry standard term they did or didn't come up with.

If my sides argument was weakened by the term, great. If you think the arbitrators punished the North because of it. Outstanding. But, at this point, what's the point?

Our side tried. Your side tried. Both sides think they got screwed.

All I'm saying is that your observation is not helpful.

Addition:

Look. I like you guys and I'm sure you guys like us. But, when it is said that there is something to be embarrassed about, I reject that. Just like you guys should reject our overtures that your procedures are backwards. From everything I've seen so far, there are some simple things we can do to avoid the flame.

North Guys:

1.) Maybe we should be more respectful when we complain about the new procedures and policies. DAL did manage to fly before the merger.

2.) Every DAL/MEC policy or pilot is not out to get us. Let's pick our battles.

3.) The SLI is over.

South Guys:

1.) Please don't tell North guys how much money the merger afforded to us, implying that it should buy our silence.

2.) The SLI is over.

Actually not true. The schedule F baby!!!!!!!! Farm writeoffs. 10 or more acres of which at least 5 are in the farmed product. Gives you the section 179 expense (110k per annum) and the ability to writeoff fuel, oil, tools, buildings, maintenance, big frikkin toys, etc. Additionally, when the state approves your farm, you become sales tax exempt at places like lowes, tractor supply, the john deere dealer, when you buy a truck or register a camper.

You have to know the rule the politicians put in place to benefit themselves. And yes 10 acres of swampland counts.

Not intended as tax or investment advice.

Hi Guys,
I'm hangin' on to the bottom of -9 captain in MEM, and wondering how I'll fare when we park all the -30 and -40 series aircraft this fall. For the life of me, I can't figure out how I'll NOT be bumped off the bottom. I have my MD preferences in place, of course. At the union meeting last week, our CP (great guy) indicated that there would not be any bumps off the aircraft, but a couple of guys may have to commute. Any comments, ideas, or insight into this?
Thanks,
Chuck

My understanding on the last bid (Jan) was that it accounted for the parking of the 30's and 40's.

I haven't tried it, but one of my offline friends did the other day (about 5 days ago) and it worked for him.

chuck,
Word from crew planning in Jan/February was that most of the displacing was done, but probably another 50 crews/100 pilots. If they did this in a base such as MSP, most could probably move over to the 88 or 320 since one category is growing and the other is short.
