Interesting Shiznit.
As to the last sentence, I fear it could be upended somewhat by AMR and CAL in their contract talks. Its worth keeping an eye on. AMR, CAL and UAUA will all be doing a section six and a merger at the same time. The traditional one upping may not come in to play as they will not have realized any of their synergies yet. With that in mind we have more to play with and need to realize that. We do not have to color in the lines because that is what is expected. We have at least a three year jump on these guys in regard to mergers and the synergies created. That must and will come in to play in section six. |

Right. But I don't know if aircraft qalify as "one-time/special" expenses. That's basic "CAPEX", for an airline, isn't it?
I wonder if your post needs to be "unscrambled" and read like this: More CAPEX reduces Delta profit (not revenue), There is not net effect on debt, because we don't know how lenders view this cash payout. Less cash in the bank results, leaving us less to "point at" in negotiations. This will only weaken our position to ask for more in 2012, if we don't see throught it. I don't claim I understand everything at play here, but your read of this cash payment doesn't completely make sense t me. I just hope in 2012-13 it turns out I was right and you were wrong.....But I am wrong a LOT of the time so I'm not going to get my hopes up! |

1) We made Boeing whole in 1113C. They know this and are not playing by the rules when it comes to these 787.
2) See post above about Debt Service and building a war chest. (We will need it) This industry sucks :D 3) See number one and realize that we just too money out of Boeing's pocket by not financing these jets though their financing arm. 4) Future financing of these jets will be at a great interest rate, and as I pointed out above it is wise to have assets you can finance in a downturn to generate cash. 5) WRT AMEX, you know why. As to AMEX, I don't know why... |
Where's a good Bar-ACL-alfa conversation when you need one?
I'm sure they could set Sink and I straight!!! |

Funny Bar.
So I'm listening to the webcast, I think the moderator lady works for NASA and called the Shuttle landing this morning. Busy lady. . I love how she said the shuttle would land 205 feet down the runway at 2700 mph.... A little later, with no change in her voice.. she corrected it. Funny stuff. |

It'll be interesting to see how much scope costs APA if they hold. |

Valid point, I just am already thinking of the "well, that rate will make us uncompetitive..." that will occur in 2012 when in reality it might not. There is nothing wrong with being very highly paid at the airline that exceeds expectations and its competition.
It'll be interesting to see how much scope costs APA if they hold. WRT AA, APA can point at DAL and say "look at all the RJ feed they are eliminating because its not profitable". Well we hope they can anyway..... I wonder WRT scope sale, how much "letter 3 grievance settlement" is going to cost, and how much it might lend to trying to "one-list" AA and AE for purely AA financial reasons...(Probably not enough but management has done weirder things!) |

CAL-UAUA is the way to go, but man, I am glad we married when we did and who we did. Anything else will be like bring step-children in to the family :D |
