For guys who like to connect the dots...

Compass is now accepting applications again. Why is the question. I have flown only 6 hours in the last month. The thought always was we would hire well before any flow began.

2. There is a "cost" with having cash on hand when you're $16.4 billion in debt. Delta is dealing with that cost. It will put you in a far better place when you're negotiating your next contract if Delta has $10 billion in long term debt. The aggregate savings is over $500 million per year. That's "free" money to buy airplanes, pay employees or attack your competition.

Slow,
It was my understanding that this debt that we are going to retire in the next 2.5 years is of higher interest and because of that, the debt service will see substantially more than 500 million in savings. I thought it was closer to the billion dollar mark? (800-900 million)

Heard we may also be looking at another PRIP program to try and entice the NWA senior guys to go early and reduce the long term pension liabilities.

The pensions are frozen. We pay out the same no matter what.

I know they were looking at one, but only to help the upward movement. Time will tell I guess.

They could offer to give back my retirement and I'd be gone tomorrow. On another note it looks like they had positive cash flow of ! billion, did I read that right ?

The heat is on...

Beginning Aug. 24, 2010, the three United Express flights operating between Chicago and New York LaGuardia will be replaced with United-operated service. With this change, United will operate as many as 18 flights a day between the two airports.

This could be good for us. :D
