Given the Alaska Marketing agreement in section one, the solution that also poses issues is a merger. Other than that, do you think that you are going to buy the company off on this deal? Not likely.

Push for a percentage of that revenue. Push for limits on the code. Those are ways to solve that. I do not like them taking more of our flying, just like you. Go read their agreement in our section one, and offer solutions!

My comments weren't directed at you or anyone else ACL...just venting is all. It frustrates me to see another company doing the flying that I believe we should be doing. I know I dont have the magic bean counter and the guys in Network planning do, so I'll just remain quiet and just fly the planes:o

No reason to be quiet! Just understand what it is, and what we can do.

It is OK to vent too.

Go read the Alaska Marketing agreement and tell me what you think.

I see that the tracks are as far south as they can go. I wonder if they will set up tracks even further south- I would hate to see a mini "force majeur" right now as things seem to be improving in the industry. BTW-did anyone notice that DAL and the 3 DCI carriers are dead last nin the DOT pax complaint department?

If not oil something else will pop up - it always does:

9-11
War
SARS
Oil
Housing bubble

but Im thinking something new for this year, possibly something among the following:

Killer sunspots
Global warming
9.0 Earthquake centered on ATL
Anything to do with Muslim extremeists and shoes
Gamma rays
H2/N5 virus
Airplane parts from China with excessive levels of lead

Oh well, we will know soon enough.

Damm! I knew Volcanic activity should have bumped Gamma Rays - Last time I take input from NASA! :D

Oh, the irony after various jokes about what sort of "unplanned" things may happen that cause us not to make a profit...

edit: you beat me to it, Scoop!

We just need to put some DC-9 captains in the planes and send them over there. They'll get the job done.

You're in good company.

As ACL explained a day or so ago (i.e. 100 pages ago on this thread) we create a price war, we spend millions on marketing to unseat the already popular Alaska and SWA, RASM drops below that which the company would've made with the codeshare and our LFs are too low too warrant anything but RJs on the route. If that happens, management is called to the carpet and we as mainline DAL pilots don't win any new flying.

I think this is one thing we're all in together in hating. I wish we'd increase our flying out of their hubs to their popular destinations so that its not a one sided win and we establish the name, Delta, in their market. If anything happens to the codeshare (AMR/SWA buys Alaska, Alaska turns out to be a ponzi scheme like SWA and folds, any other slightly absurd ideas) then we aren't starting from nothing.

Then we pick back up the SEA-ATL/BOS/NYC flying overnight in larger 757s and create a price war funded by our worldwide operation. Its kind of like "sure, go out with my daughter tonight, but we're going in my car and I'm going to be holding this gun to your temple. So be cool, don't flinch, and just know I don't want you here but I'll let you be here, tonight."

[disclaimer, this is not anti-Alaska pilots. This is protecting Delta pilots until said time when Alaska pilots are Delta pilots, at which point, welcome aboard.]
---

I think I am against parking any CRJ-200s and ERJ-145s. I am not 100% opposed to CRJ700s and CPZ-only Ejets IF, IF, we redeploy them to antagonize SWA. Match them $ for $. We'd probably make a fortune, $800 walkup fares on SWA now? Also, give those DCIs a taste of things to come in cost sharing in exchange for not parking their jets but not allowing those jets that would be parked to service previous Delta hub routes.

Worldflight (Jepp) is being used to enhance and renovate FPS2, and I would imagine that it is being used today extensively since FPS2 is not as nimble.
