There is the "possibility" of a lot of things.

If Southwest (or any other airline) moves in there isn't a route out there that they will operate that isn't already being served. Maybe the fares might go down, maybe not...either way the only requirement is that the deal not "hurt" the consumer like you've stated.

In that case you have to look at the deal as a whole and decide is it truly "hurtful"? Is is more or less "hurtful" than what is already in place.

Is their really a reason to think ticket prices will go up? Is that "guess" good enough to disregard all of the plusses and "harmless" things in this deal?

Not to mention the whole "pick in choose" game they are trying to play in approving the AirTran/CAL deal. That gave a LCC more market share in LGA, but made an already dominate carrier even more dominate in EWR. Sounds much like our deal...but I think ours actually smells better overall, so how is it denied?

I'd love to see our lawyers argue this one out. I think it'll be a good show.
I agree with you. It will be interesting to watch.

How is it that pilots with the lower RAW are left alone, while the higher RAW guys get SC?

Where can I get this 'big picture'? I've been looking for one for years. I can't even find it on ebay! I found a kidney, but no big picture.

Its hidden in the very large section on the south end of terminal A in ATL on the concourse level.

If you look there are no doors, no stairwells, no windows or anything on the outside of that part of the building and no entrances from the interior by gates A1 and A2.

No one has ever been in there to see "it", so no one really knows what "it" is...

Apparently "it" is a pretty big picture though.

Ok, I'm trying to understand fleet staffing.

A few months ago, we were going to bulk up our narrowbody staffing and make lots of money in the domestic market.

Now, we're not going bulk up our narrowbody staffing. Instead, we're going to focus on widebody and make lots of money internationally.

Why aren't we bulking up narrowbody and widebody and making lots of money domestically *and* internationally?

I was told by a scheduler that it is because they want to "save" the lower raw guys. That way if a trip pops in after the initial 8 AM assignments they will be able to give it to the guy (or gal) with the lower RAW. If they gave the lower RAW guy SC already, they would bypass them and have to give a trip to someone with a higher score. The problem is the one you see now. If a trip doesn't show up, the guy with the lower score gets a free ride while the pilot who has worked already gets to work some more.

Remember each scheduler assigns it differently. The way it is done today is not indicative of the way it will be done tomorrow, it can and will change. Your results will vary.

At indoc we were told "on your death bed you'll receive total conciousness".

So, we got that going for us.
