How about moving on to a topic that is more fun. A week or so ago, I predicted a 2Q profit of $588 million based on the company's public disclosure. That would put them at about $400 million up for the year since they lost about $200 million in 1Q. If they make another $600 million in 3Q and stay flat for 4Q, that would give them a profit of $1 billion for the year.
If they make a billion then $150 million will go to profit sharing (15%). Pilots are about 1/3 of payroll so $50 million would go to pilots. Assuming a split of around 11,000 pilots that would make an average profit sharing check of $4,500 per pilot. Last time they paid the profit sharing check on Valentines Day.
It is much more fun to speculate on profit sharing. What say you?

A quick question about non-reving on payload optimized flights...
How do you know if it's payload optimized prior to showing up? My family tried to non-rev on 1468 SAN-CVG last night the flight had tons of seats and they left non-revs behind. This morning flight 9862 shows over eighty seats available but they have such bad luck out of SAN that I'm not even sure they should try. Are the 320's performance restricted due to the short runway with 4 hours of gas?

I hope they are going to show a 588 million pre tax profit. My bet is after a few "one time items" it will be lower. I will refrain from guessing though.
Any problems commuting this summer? Alot of commuters trying to snag the same jumpseat. A call in honest program sure is needed.

Quick question, sure it's been covered, but I'm being lazy. I'm trying to reduce my raw on PCS, yellow slip, but I can't get it to save the request. It keeps saying use option D. What is that? I tried pushing F12 and that doesn't work either!
Nevermind figured it out..DOH!

^^^^^^^^ That ^^^^^^^^^^^^
Heard the same from another line check/training type guy.
The vast majority of fNWA are integrating with no problems at all. They are taking leadership roles.
However, the senior entrenched 747 captains are apparently getting a reputation as a bunch of bed-wetters who are resisting any and all change just because it didn't come from them. More interested in posturing and their "prestige" than efficient flight operations. Thus we are seeing alot of them being quietly shown the door.
They are rapidly losing credibility and influence among the real decision-makers.
The whole situation is a real shame since those guys could be providing valuable input if they could just get over their "kiss my ring" complex.

Perhaps if you knew the facts of some of the issues you might find that we were and are concerned about the efficiency and safety of the operation. That's ok we are getting used to it, being called whinning, posturing, and kiss my ring. That makes for a good environment to debate things. If that 's what it takes so what. I think we all want things to improve and the fact that we are talking about these matters speaks pretty well for the overall merger.
