DAL330,

Hawaiian is a merger I urge! 767's bases, even their version of a Douglas jet is kinda neat :)

Thanks for the confirmation of the HND slot award.

DOT Announces Proposed Decision to Award Four Routes at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport

The U.S. Department of Transportation is proposing to award four routes to Tokyo’s downtown Haneda Airport to American Airlines at New York, Delta Air Lines at Los Angeles and Detroit, and Hawaiian Airlines at Honolulu when the airport’s fourth runway becomes operational later this year.

A make up call or a hedge against a LGA slot law suit? No way they just decided to be fair and evenhanded.

Well, at least something went our way this week...

We were probably going to see that SEA320 flying, then Alaska called and said it violated their scope .

HND Access Decision - Why Am I Not Surprised?

DOT: New Tokyo routes to Delta, American, Hawaiian - Yahoo! Finance

This isn't quite the DOT/DOJ/AMR/LUV/JBLU gang-rape we've been subject to lately, but this is sort of a marginal result. UAL is right out, because of ANA, but AMR already will have JFK-HND via JAL/oneworld. They'll both be able to serve the better airport, while we're relegated to secondary status. So that's one more on the chin in NYC.

Sink, also a big one on the chin for Cal at Ewr and the Star alliance. AA gets the slot at Jfk? Why? does it surprise you though? Amr is very powerful.

Good news for us though, getting two slots!!

I think that's a good play... Although I did just talk to a very senior LCA who said, without any hesitation or doubt in his voice, that we are going to buy Alaska. Take that for exactly what it's worth, of course.
