Question for those on the property: In April 08, I received an email from Delta saying my application had been selected for interview but that interviews had been suspended. I know there were a host of interviews canx'd as well. Assuming my application was still current and I was still flying in my reserve unit, do you think those apps would still be in the 'interview pile' or would they get put back in the screening pool?

BDGERJMN,

Recommend you ensure your AirApps application is updated & correct. .

Good luck. Delta is a good place to work.

You might want to rethink that, Satchip. I'm on the NYC 73, and let me tell you: the redeyes are brutal without a relief pilot, the customers are incredibly obnoxious, the cat wranglers are extra wrinkly, and all the captains want to know if you like gladiator movies.

Stay away. Stay far away.

Your pal,
FC, who is junior to you. :D

Cool! I love gladiator movies!

I was waiting to see how that worked out for you before trying it.

Ginkoba and Green Tea are good for remembering the stuff if you fly four different airplanes in one year. The generics are cheap, which makes them easy to afford ... a benefit while getting one pay cut after another.

BDGERJMN,

Assume the worst and start from scratch. If you have any POC's from the first round give em a call and hopefully some guys in your reserve unit are flying with DAL and can recommend you.

Great to see a positive bid with so many widebody slots. They didn't let me press the button to send out the bid. :( Can't a brotha get some love?

Clamp,

For the last 10-15 years most DAL bases except ATL shrunk or closed outright. Yes it sucks to see any base downsized, and hopefully ATL will stabilize and grow along with all the other DAL bases, but ATL guys are not going to get a lot of sympathy from guys from:

DFW
MCO
CVG
PDX
LAX

I think DAL finally realizes that if they want to be a true international powerhouse they need to build up the west coast. ATL was the big fish in a small pond, so to speak, but if we are going to compete with the combined UAL/CAL powerhouse (if it goes through) we need to competitive everywhere - not just the southeast.

If you lengthen out that timeline just a little bit you'd pick up

ORD
SFO
SEA
MSY
HOU
MIA
BOS

MCO was the Delta Express cancer in our contract. While I never like to see lives disrupted, I was glad to see that operation go away. The Northsiders have had their fair share of base closures as well, with ANC closed recently and BOS, JFK, and HNL shut down.

I hate AE's, especially ones like this. I am getting screwed by the man and my career now sucks.

OK just had to throw some *****ing in there to make the people who always live under a dark cloud happy.

I am looking for information from MSP guys on the 7ER and M88 guys on schedules and lifestyle. Yes M88 is too early to tell but give me your best guesses.

I am currently on the baby bus at about 60% and from the looks of things if no one bids off this AE I may go backwards slightly. So I am now contemplating some options. Do I go to the 7ER and be at 90% or the M88 and be in the top 30% or stay on the Bus.

My thought process is that the Bus and 88 out of Minnie do a lot of the same flying and as the 88 grows the bus will shrink. If we open any new 320 bases, can you say LGA (no chance to SEA IMHO) I think the flying comes out of MSP. So if I am going to move backwards to I bid up in pay or up in seniority....actually I do hate AE's it gives me to many options.
