Carl.
Good luck finding any area around Atlanta within a 10-15 mile perimeter around the airport that doesn't pose some risk if you go out at night and don't have any street cred working for you. The simple fact is that most of our pilots may have survived SEER school, but they don't teach "Surviving in the Hood" tactics there.

Carl I somewhat agree with you. However, you can't hold the company liable for the actions of others. The company provides you secure transportation from the airport, hotel, and training facilities. The hotels I've stayed in are secure. So I'm not quite sure how DAL could be liable here.

It is a slippery slope for DALPA to start naming areas of towns as "not safe".

However, like others things you complain about, I'm sure you can muster up a strongly worded post on APC for DAL's management to read.

Well......don't get me started.

But, the short story is that one incident gives the company notice that the area around the hotel is not safe. When it occurs, if they are smart (which it seems like they were), they need to beat feet to find another, safer location. If they are really smart, while they are conducting the search, they give notice to us to be careful. The more they make it seem they are proactive and involved, the less liability they are exposed to.

Pssst! I tried to give you the New K Special (Admittedly, it's not as good as the Uncle Ferd Saipan Tour Guide Special.)

You didn't recognize me with my purple hat with the feather on it, did you? :D

Tell me if this passes the stink test. I put in a YS for short call for tomorrow morning. This morning when short call was assigned I saw and acknowleged short call for tomorrow. Just now I looked at my schedule again, my short call has been removed and I'm not on the reserve availability list whatsoever for tomorrow. What gives? I commute to reserve and pay for lodging expenses. I did this after I was awarded short call for tomorrow. Now I'm not on short call (maybe not even long call) and have paid lodging expenses for tonight. I would have stayed home had I known they were going to pull the carpet out underneath me and saved the money.
