Someone said they saw them in the CPO Office in JFK - I doubt they'll be online anywhere, until the whole thing is announced in a big press release.

Then it will take, my guess, a minimum of 4 years until it's done and we're moved in. Well, maybe less because it's mostly construction on T4.

JetBlue announced they were building a new terminal in 2004. They started operations there in Oct 2008.

Jetblue had the advantage of not having to operate of the facility that they were rebuilding, like we might have to.

There MAY be a nugget of truth in that. These days, I always wear my hat--my employer requires it of me. When I worked for another line (NWA) they had this really dufus policy of "...hat optional with the uniform..." It always irked me that the official policy was essentially, "...oh, that part of your uniform, it's at your discretion..." WHAT, exactly, is uniform about a policy like that. Now days, at least you are able to tell if a guy is on board with company policy & direction, or just has some kinda' vanity issue with his (receding, usually) hair. To all my north-side (pardon the term this time) peers---Wear your hat. Your employer requires it, and you make yourself look like a jerk.
Thanks. I had to get that off my chest. It bugs me.

Puleeeeeze

I'll start by saying I wear my hat because that is the company policy. However, when you call the former company policy a "dufus" policy because you didn't like it, you put yourself into the same category of the guys not wearing their hat now. Pot met kettle. I'd love to go back to that "dufus" policy. I'll bet you're really short and put your hand it the front of your new double breasted blazer.;)

The same vibe he had all the way through training. The same vibe that the instructors complained about when he didnt follow the way it was taught. The same vibe that the Fleet Training Captain complained about to his boss ... and was told to let the captain do it his way...

To me that is an indication of how management (above the level of Fleet Training Captain) is condoning that vibe.

Just my $.02

And that is total b.s.

And that should not be happening and hopefully someone will take care of it shortly. I'm going to say something that will probably get me stoned by a mob, remember only men are allowed to throw stones - Life of Brian, but when many of us new hires were sitting in initial indoc there were multiple times we scratched our heads over procedures. I think thats when you realize this airline is old and set in its ways and so are many people and those who wanted to change things (go talk to the fine folks in JFK) will tell you how they tried and gave up.

All that said, I'll say today what I said then: "thank God I'm here, and if thats the way they want it done then I'll do it with pride, but I hope they change it though :D."

I think as a DALS pilot you hear someone complain about how DALS did it and the initial reaction is to defend it as its not so much about the subject matter but how it was raised. But at the same time it was complained about premerger.

I'm just calling it how I see it. We don't need to fly 767/757s like we flew 727s because some guy thinks it should be done that way. We shouldn't have maintained MD11s like they were L1011s to the verge of having warranties canceled. And whatever other example can be raised.

But I sure hope to God what made Delta a great place for pilots to work remains intact and thats going to take us as a group fighting to keep it that way.

Keep the good and the great, throw out the dumb and the bad. Goes along with if you need it run it, if you don't, don't run it.

My hope is the pressure comes from higher up where the real decisions are made to get with the combined program especially as we move forward. Especially since the ones in power aren't necessarily tied to either airline and probably will have little patience for those who buck change. And that's textbook business management.

Sorry for the long response.

But, I have object to the pile on that ya all are doing to Carl. We have the 3 Kings of NWA haters (you know the 3 I'm talking about) and yet no one reels those guys in.

So...........comely add to the discussion or read and move on.

You know 80, the whole DALN vs DALS thing has got me thinking.

DALN had a lot of revisions and changes since the merger, I'm sure DALS guys are about to get theirs soon, and you know everyone would be able to handle it a lot better if they would just take a breather and reflect on how you handle change...

You're right about handling change, and everybody is different. But most of the complaints and worries that I have and hear of are not that things are changing. When the merger was announced I had great hopes of Delta bringing state of the art change. That was my assumption as to how Delta operated. Most of us fNWA guys now see that assumption was wrong.

Resistance to change is human nature, but when change makes things better, even the most hard headed come around. But when change takes you demonstrably backward, and our new company's stats prove it, then the change is just sad.

Agreed. Programs like Cornerstone and FPS, DBMS et al are designed to deal with the SAP templates that are set. It is a very rigid program. Tech Ops uses it, Finance uses it, etc. The point is that it has it tentacles all over Delta. So what would they chuck it? That is correct, they would not. They decided to keep it and now the programs need to be designed or patched to work within it. One decision makes a lot of decisions.

From what I have been told, the change Carl and others are screaming for will happen, but with everything ,we are a huge ship and to turn it take time and money.

Interesting how you characterize my posts as "screaming." Care to post an example of what you call "screaming?"

I just passed through Atlanta. I couldn't believe the number of pilots I saw walking through the terminal with no hat. Not only was it not on, it wasn't even on their person (perhaps stuff in the bag?). As a fDAL guy who has never been based in ATL, that is something I'd never do and is a very good way to unnecessarily highlight yourself; although most who aren't wearing the hat probably don't care.
