Denny-
They have to split the payback days if they run into another group of X days.
Sounds like that was the case here.
I think crew skeds did it correctly.
This GS touched 2 X days. That entitled him to 48 hours of payback.
Following the 9 hours of rest, if there was only 36 hours until his next group of scheduled X days, then the remaining 12 hours of payback should be tacked onto the end of that group of X days. (thus the "partial" payback day phenomenon)

Check,
That makes sense because the pattern ended today with a DH. The pattern ended just before 1000. Tomorrow was reserve, and then X days Monday-Thursday. The partial day goes until 1855 Friday, so the math seems to make sense to me. I guess short of giving me a rotation that has a show time after 1855 Friday I don't think there is a whole lot they'll do to me. A 1900-0700 SC on the 320 is something I think I'll see IMO.
Thanks

I need to drop a trip in June if I can't swap it. Can I drop it using a personal drop? What is the difference between a personal drop and an authorized personal drop? I know I could look it up in the contract but I am old and lazy. If I do drop it does that prevent me from picking up a trip later in the month. Thanks in advance!

Off topic, but are we still in line to get JAL's MD-90's and maybe a couple of B747-400's?
My understanding is we still have 747s to pull out of mothballs. As with the -90s lets hope so. I lean towards believing the answer is yes from previous discussions with the jefe's. (not to be confused with our local el jefe.) The new hires have to fly something.

That's why they hate rolling thunder so much.
Sometimes those partial days are just as good as a full day.
You're useless to them after a certain point in time.
This summer could get interesting in many categories.
You might see some senior lineholders bidding reserve just to get the rolling thunder.

As far as the using the APD goes, it is a once a employment year deal. You can look on your timecard and see if you still have it available. If you do and you are on a regular line, my recommendation would be to only APD one day of the trip you know you don't want to fly. This should drop the whole trip and then you can pick something else up on the other days if you want to. Just remember that you can whiteslip a trip over PD days but you cannot whiteslip over a APD day.

I will just add to RockyBoys comments and say, take a look at the "reserves required" vs "reserves available" numbers is dbms. If there are more available than required you will more than likely get the PD although it is not a sure thing that the numbers will still be good when the PCS run gets to you.

Denny,
Two unrelated academic questions:
I know you only get 1 APD per year regardless of if you drop 1 day of reserve or a regularly scheduled pairing. I know the APD can go to four reserve days maximum, but is there a limit to a regularly scheduled trip. For example, can you drop a whole 12 day international trip with your APD?
Also, say the G/S trigger is 75 hours but you only have 70 hours and then fly a 10 hour G/S. Do you get G/S pay for the whole 10 hours or just the portion over 75, which I suspect is the correct answer?
Thanks - Scoop
