Commuting Policy (Call in Honest)
In order to avail himself of this policy, the pilot must take certain actions. For example, if commuting by air, pilots should ensure a minimum of a primary and a backup flight (on and/or offline), both of which have actual seat availability, based on counts within 24 hours of departure, and are scheduled to arrive at a reasonable time prior to report. The backup flight should not be scheduled to depart within two hours of the scheduled departure time of the primary flight. If, after taking the above actions, an on-time sign-in will not be possible, the pilot must call Crew Scheduling. Crew Scheduling may, at their discretion, elect to do either of the following: • Deadhead the pilot (no pay or credit) to join the rotation. • Personal drop the rotation. But, as long as a scheduler has the option to do anything but put you on the backup flight, this won't work. But, as I said, a step in the right direction. Guess Rome wasn't built in a day. Ferd |
Ferdando, if Newk had been around then, Rome would've been built in a day.

Interesting. Looks like a step in the right direction, didn't the old policy require two backups?
