It's 80 deg and clear here. Water is a bit cold though. I could tell you where I was but then you try moving here and we couldn't have that. :)

Well, I think if FDL has a base up in the north, let's say, Winnipeg, we'd all be salivating at bidding "down" to MSP... Lived there for 4 years, love the summer, and the scenery around the lakes, but thanks, no thanks.

Looks like im going to be flying the 88 out of CVG. Anyone know if its easy to green slip while sitting on reserve there? Just wondering about life at my new base. Thanks.

Anyone know what a "Merger Dispute Fund" is?

How about we all share some info for those of us that got displaced into a new base. Let's start with crashpad... I need to find one in SLC. What's to do around town on SC reserve in SLC?

There are people more qualified to answer this than me, but I will try.

Since the arbitration award is subject to interpretation and there will only be one MEC soon we must set up a separate fund for the old merger committee to use in the event that we have "problems" with parts of the award. I think there would be a conflict of interest to use funds from the new joint MEC budget to represent one side v. the other.

Don't exactly understand it all myself, but I can't say that I'm exactly thrilled to be using money to fight any "problems" some people may have with parts of the award.

Again, I don't exactly understand it all myself and I'm sure their is more to it. I just hope we are not wasting out union dues to fund an ALPA MEC ****ing battle.

Probably are, IMHO. I'm not thrilled about it either.

If the funds aren't used I believe they are returned to us. I say blanket party if someone comes up with a "frivolous" lawsuit.

There is going to be a dispute. The language of the SLI award nearly guarantees it and in fact set up a mechanism for resolving such disputes.
The most obvious first test will be any 787 postponements/cancellations and what is a "replacement aircraft".
Hopefully the issue can be settled within the new MEC or between the two merger committees and will not require arbitration. The Roberts award history suggests that may not be the case.
The dispute fund is in place because arbitration is expensive. Lawyers and expert witnesses don't come cheap.
