I was told on the last bid that the new category is only "new" once. As SEA7ER was a new category on the last bid, you could have bid it then regardless of freeze status. Since it will no longer be new on the next bid, I would say that you would be stuck with the freeze. May want to call crew resources, but this was the answer I got on the last bid with MSPM88 which was a very similar situation.

I ask because I had credit for a short call removed and didn't realize it until now.

I can't find anything in the contract. Thanks.
The SC period has to start in order to get credit for it. I had the same thing happen this week.

Riu Palace or Riu Palace Macao in Punta Cana?

I've looked at both. Palace Macao is a little cheaper right now, but more expensive in Sept. Palace looks nicer to me, with access to the sister resorts. I don't think you get that with Palace Macao.

So which is the nicer of the two? It sounds like Check did one and FTB did the other, so I'm trying to get a review from you both. I'm leaning towards the Riu Palace.
Just got back from Jamaica and one thing to consider is the number of rooms at each resort. Heard a Comment about the Riu Palace that it was good but they had to stand in line forever for food because of the number of people there. Just a little tid bit.

Flight ops management said the next AE will probably come out in Sep or Oct so it will probably be after the first conversions into SEA7ER.

I just looked up the definition of a "new or re-established category." After reading it, and assuming the SEA7er category is "established" (first conversions in my mind) Sep 1, then you should be able to bid it as a new category if the AE comes out prior to 60 days past Sep 1. (Not sure if the AE would need to come out or close before the 60 day period expires.)

If that doesn't work and they convert the SLC767 domestic category to the ER, you could bid that as a new category and then try to get into SEA on a following AE. You would be taking a chance doing it this way but it could work.

In any event, I'd call the union and see what they had to say about it. The following is the contract definition of "new or reestablished category."

150. “New or reestablished category” means, for the purposes of
Section 22, a category that has not been in existence for 60 days since the date of the first opportunity for the first conversion.

I believe you have to sit 1 minute of the SC. If the report was later then the beginning of the SC, then you should receive credit for the SC.

Just wondered how the GS flying is going. Some pages ago, guys were predicting huge amonts of GS flying this summer. Never expected to see it on the 744, but just curious if it is happening as expected as we are in the middle of the summer season.

Well we will see what happens. Going to the Riu Palace in Punta Cana in September. Got the double suite for cheap. Looking forward to the beach drink service, swim up pool bar, & endless food.

That definition of a new or reestablished category is not very well written in my book.
