Normally true. But NOT for new categories.
New categories go in straight seniority order. AEs, MDs and VDs are equal.

I displaced into the 73N in LAX when the 764 closed. The 73N was a new catagory. For what it's worth....

Yes...with some of the ATL positions moving to JFK and other fNWA bases.

And lots of vacancies for fDAL pilots to bid on in fNWA bases. Don't get the significance of your statement.

Nobody knows that until all the shaking out gets shaken out. NYC going more senior than some thought may have something to do with the fact that 777 and 765 positions went from ATL to JFK.

What I see so far is the fNWA "waves" into fDAL bases either haven't happened or have been equally offset by "waves" of fDAL guys flowing into fNWA bases and aircraft. All good stuff in my book.

I just got back to the hotel in time for the free food. (Ain't that just like a pilot). So I didn't hear any of SD's comments...but I would have been very busy anyway trying to keep Ferd from asking about when the 744 base in SPN was opening. :D Seemed like the mood was pretty good, so I don't think it was nearly as bad as the last time he was here.

777 from ATL to JFK? The 765 certainly went from ATL to JFK but the JFK 777 category is closing - that flying is going to DTW.

All pilots in the SLC767 category are being MDd OFF the 767.

How they choose to exercise their seniority in regards to AE, VD and MD is up to them... since the 76ER is a new category it will be filled the standard way.

The SLC767 pilots do go without a training freeze because they were displaced off their old 767 category.

SLC has taken it in the shorts twice now... Its like a game of musical chairs where everybody is sitting down and suddenly all the chairs for the SLC767 guys are pulled and new chairs are placed in the room.

Everybody else can sit tight, but the SLC guys will have to scramble for what *was* their previous chair...

That's how it went down with the MD90 in SLC...

Cheers

Carl,

SLC 320/90 swap resulted in 50% of the SLC 320 category being fNWA. Close to 100 SLC guys got displaced out of their base and are now commuting to somewhere else.

ATL 765 category moved to JFK with lots of fNWA guys bidding into that category.

CVG ER closed and moved to SEA with another bunch of fNWA guys bidding that category.

SLC converting to ER category with result pending on how many fNWA guy will bid into that category.

Other than the few fDAL guys who may have lived in or close to MSP and DTW the only guys coming into fNWA bases are guys getting displaced there. I see lots of waves of fNWA guys pushing fDAL guys into MSP and DTW and virtually no fDAL guys running into MSP or DTW causing displacements there.

fNWA guys haven't had the chance to go to ATL because there have been few if any vacancies there the last couple of bids allowing guys in.

The worst thing that has happned to the fNWA guys is the senior 320 guys have lost their west coast day turns to the M88 category. So far no fNWA guys have gotten displaced and forced into commuting the last two bids while ALOT of fDAL guys have. Your ANC guys did take a beating so I'll give you that, but that was before SOC so it didn't count. :)

Now that I've come off sounding like a North vs. South weenie, it's all good in my book also. Hopefully we'll all be working for a company that can pay us some serious cash and send us a profit sharing check every spring. Moving all this stuff around helps us get there so I'll take a few licks knowing it means more for us in the future.

Whenever we get close to a north vs south debate, its always good to refocus on a common enemy.

I present to you with the man, yes, you're friend, the Secretary of Transportation:

Reuse of previous picture is necessary because... I'm tired.

The N side bidding into different bases was all part of the seniority negotiations right? They said we wouldn't get as much credit for upcoming attrition but we'd be able to bid into "higher paying positions" instead. Now the shifting is happening on both sides and hopefully so is the attrition!!

AE's SUCK btw, just saying....
