Hey Denny, I'm not either. Do we have to put in ANYTHING? Or just a one entry AE with where we are at now?

1)I'm fairly junior and I got into SLC on the last AE.

2)DALS pilots tend to over value DALS products and bases compared to how DALN pilots actually feel. That being said, your perception that its going to create a North wave is a little off. Yall said that about ATL and that never materialized, more the opposite.

3)Senior North pilots can already hold the ER or better(330/744) in SEA/MSP/DTW. Basically they would have to bid down to go to SLC. I really don't see it, especially with all the openings.

I may be way off base but we will see in a few weeks.

I sure hope your right and I'm wrong. FYI, when the 320 came to SLC half the 90 category could not hold the 320 due to senior North guys coming in. So some North guys do want something other than DTW and MSP. There were close to 50 North guys on both the A and B side that came into SLC with the 320. ATL has not seen an influx becuase you need vacancies to get there and there have been very few vacancies the last two bids. If they were to completely rebid the 88 and 767/ER categories in ATL, I'd bet you would see alot of North guys heading down south.

In the end, this is a good thing it might just sting a little more for some of the SLC guys. I'm happy to be flying the 320 and not the 88, and it will be nice to have an ER category to get a little international stuff down the road without commuting.

Look at the 19May10 AE awards on DeltaNet.
There are some examples. CVG7ER closed. SEA7ER opened new.
Here are 3 guys that MD'd to the new category.

Awarded Cat============================== Previous Cat
SEA7ERCAPT 0333856 Name redacted-- 03492 M CVG7ERCAPT
SEA7ERCAPT 0938722 Name redacted-- 02242 M CVG7ERCAPT
SEA7ERCAPT 0872798 Name redacted-- 01535 M CVG7ERCAPT

100% correct. The SLC 767 guys will get it via an MD if their seniority can hold it and everyone else will get it with an AE if their seniority can hold it. Lots of confusion over an issue we have seen twice in the last two bids.

No controversy. This stuff is complex and confusing.
Like PG said -- call the office to get the real answer.

Ferd,

If you do not want to bid anything for an AE and stay put, do not put in anything. I always have a MD in place just in case. I've never had it used when I didn't know that I was going to get displaced but it's just a catchall. As others stated earlier, when you are awarded something on a bid, all your preferences are deleted (including VD/MD preferences.

Sorry I don't know the answer to your other question other than to say "to be on the safe side I'd take the whole thing." But I don't know for sure.

Ok, cool. No AE and an MD back to MSP or SEA, perfect.

Yeah, what I'm think'en too. Plus, if I take it, maybe they'll want me to do a Saipan

Just trying to not take it home or through security to the bag room after the DH home. Like I said, just being lazy:D
