Everything is hearsay, per say but this isn't from cockpit talk if that is what you are getting at. I bet money our "policy" is on the block to change due to the abuse.

I must say to try and be divisive on this is pretty low. I was basically schooled by south guys on how you guys play the sick game to max out pay. Maybe you should look to your own side. I was pretty much laughed at for not using my sick leave last year. There will be those on both sides that play and game the system for their personal advantage.

Anyone been able to book a room at the "downtown" crew hotel in New York lately? (i.e. last couple of weeks?) I've called the front desk, even asked the supervisor, and keep getting the same answer of "we don't honor the Delta Crew Rate anymore." Even though our crews are still staying there?

Reason I ask, I'm taking my girlfriend to the New York Metropolitan Opera, opening show of Boris Gudonov. Would've preferred staying at the above mentioned hotel. (Name left out for security reasons.) But, as mentioned, every time I've called, I've "hit a brick wall" with whomever I talked to.

If your recent experience has been the same, any advice on how to find a decent hotel in Manhattan without worrying about the "bed bug" infestation?

Thanks in advance. As always, fly safe,

GJ

I'm sure there is a good amount of pilots from both sides that like to take advantage of the sick policy of a regular basis.

Integrity is doing the right thing when no one is looking.

Worrying about who or which former side is abusing this practice is a waste of time.

Long story short I tried Priceline, Orbitz, et al and could not find a room in town for under $200 plus fees. I had called the hotel and been told the same thing about no discounts as you were when I talked to Reservations. I called back and talke to the front desk and they said it was the front office that dealt with that.

Let me know what you find out I want to head back out in November with the wife.

PS I was the one who sent in the info to Crew Guide so as of August it was good.

Yeah, I know it was Boris Badinoff but I couldn't resist. Sorry dude.

All,

Thanks for the responses. I'll try the info PM'd by JetFlyer tomorrow and see if I have any success.

FTB - Was really, secretly trying to get the first post of page #4900. Again, and with unyielding consistency, you continue to STILL BE THE MAN!! I'm assuming that they're going to have a Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade float, in honor of your efforts on APC Forums.

Caddis - I'll let you know what I find out when talking to the "front office" tomorrow. All the times that I've asked to speak with someone, it's either been a front desk person, front desk supervisor, or reservations.

Buzz - Personally, I'd rather see Boris Badinoff and his rendition at the New York Met. Not so sure my lady friend would agree, but I'm into seeing Boris & "Natasha Fatale" (a pun on femme fatale) at it again.

JetFlyer - PM sent in return, thanks for the info.

V/R,

GJ

Are we really going to re-hash this AGAIN? If you're sick, call in sick. If not, don't. I don't really buy into this claim of rampant abuse. Especially only the North guys.

Back it up with facts or let this one die. Pineapple Guy will be along in a few to admonish the bad apples.

Did it ever occur to you that they might just be sick? Why assume it's abuse? Seems a little presumptuous.

Also, you need to know that at NWA if a guy was sick and needed a doctors note, then he'd just go get one. It's really not a big deal. If one is sick, then they're sick. Stop trying to alienate the North side, and let management do their job. If there are people abusing the system, then they will find them. Your post is pointless and divisive.

Actually, I heard the opposite: That the NWA Call In Honest Policy is going to be re-instated.

I agree with the others. Lame attempt. If you are going to be devisive, go big, early, and say you don't like North guys because they wear funny shoes and eat bleached fish. This penny ante stuff marks you as a poser.

Oh fine............now that I'm totally off line

Good news for sure, where/when did you hear that?

Ferd <------just one of "those north guys who _____________________" Oh well, the good news is every southie I know/fly with is a great guy. It's only the occasional web thug who seems to want me to just go away.

Nu,

Gotta get it right. We only eat bleached fish (otherwise known as Lutefisk) if it's soaked in butter and accompanied by some Lefse. Perfect time of the year for everyone to take part in a Lutefisk/Lefse feed at their local church in the Northland.
