Yea...doesn't that stuff take like 10 years buried in the ground to ferment or something? Tried it once....it was like eating fish flavored jello with Clorox overtones (although I understand lye is actually used).

And don't forget the tatter tot hotdish and jello salad, don't ya know....

PS the Call in Honest thing is rumor.

I agree with the others. Lame attempt. If you are going to be devisive, go big, early, and say you don't like North guys because they wear funny shoes and eat bleached fish. This penny ante stuff marks you as a poser.

Ok ,first I never said that the commute policy was in jeopardy it was the sick policy. Second it has nothing to do with like or dislike anyone. As far as all of you saying that I am being divisive than i must be since I repeated what was said to me. I am not in any dept. to give you numbers or names, I never claimed to. Repeated what I heard, and yup that is all I did. If you like to think I made it up or changed what I was told then fine. Some of these dept. are small and saying who said it to gain your trust is silly. I couldn't care less if you think it is someone in the know or not. FWIW it is. Take it or leave it. And yes they specifically said it was mostly north guys not making commutes and calling in at the last minute. BTW.......I think that everyone of you wear funny shoes.

There was a kid over on FI that, at one time, was in charge of counting paperclips or some such over a tech ops that would stir crap like this up while on his coffee break.

This pretty much falls into that category. This guys lame attempt at baiting people is bush league and his "rebuttal" is even lamer.

Imapilot, level up those phat intraweb skillz from teh bush leagues and come back with better game. Oh, and your "enter" key makes for great paragraphs...your pitiful run on blather marks you as a noob.

Sounds pretty weak if they can't deal directly with those individuals. I have been called out before on a very short call for this exact reason and was told by the scheduler that they were working on contacting the chief pilot (as it should be). I get so tired of management types not doing the managing portion of their jobs and dealing with the difficult individuals one on one but instead lets come down on the entire group.

North or south is irrelevant.
If its becoming too common, I'd look for management to react soon.
It drives them absolutely bonkers when commuters call in sick at the last minute.
Its completely obvious what really happened, but nearly impossible to prove.
I sure hope they don't take the easy way out and punish the whole pilot group.

I'm not defending the practice of calling in sick for a missed commute, but it would seem that reinstating the NWA call-in-honest program would clean this up in a hurry, with minimal cost. I personally never used the call-in-honest policy, but it definitely made the commute less stressful. Almost used it once, but ended up getting an RJ jumpseat at the 11th hour. Just sayin'

Wow, that's actually a really good idea. I had no idea we were doing that. I've always thought that being a gate agent is one of the most thankless jobs around.

I know that after just 2 minutes at the podium -- while I'm checking my schedule or Travelnet -- and answering stupid questions, I'm ready to throttle somebody.

No I have never heard of it. How do you handle reserves that do not want to go there? (I can hear the answer to this one.. but go ahead) Pay doesn't fix everything. And most of all, it doesn't mitigate the danger. It's not always about money.
