Airlines Will Have Record Profits for 3rd Quarter -- Seeking Alpha
AirlineFinancials.com estimates the nine largest US airlines, starting next week, will collectively report $2.4 billion in profits from $33.3 billion in revenues. The average net profit margin is projected at 7.2%.
Assuming these projections are somewhat accurate, they would be an all time record profit and the 2nd highest revenue for any 3rd quarter.
For this report, the nine largest airlines are: Delta (DAL), American (AMR), United (UAL), Continental (CAL), US Airways (LCC), Southwest (LUV), JetBlue (JBLU), Alaska (ALK), and Air Tran (AAI). Note: United and Continental merged at the end of the 3rd quarter.

I just did a CHS layover last weekend. Great views and wonderful weather. I did a two hour walk down King St and back along the water just to people watch. Nice town, everyone I spoke with was very friendly. Reminded me of Annapolis when I was a kid.

Maybe they will be pansies like the legacies and take paycuts to ensure a profitable and growing airline. I think "constructive engagement" is the term![Mad](https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/images/smilies/mad.gif)

This is exactly the reason I opted not to go there. I saw their run at the top as over, and with the amount of hiring they did, it would be a horrible career.
DAL is bar none the best carrier to be at in this country. (For many more reasons that this)
