GREAT place to go to school. So good that I decided to do it twice...the post-grad thing as well. Then, had to get serious and quit bar tending...thus the Air Force pilot thingy. Then, Delta. Then, book thingy. Now, trying to hang on to the LAX pilot thingy. My wife and kids are happy...that makes me happy...the dog, I think, is okay with it..I'm not sure. She's German and keeps running away. Most of the time, its when I'm pulling out of the driveway for the slog to LAX and I see her eating the neighbor's garbage.

I agree. I would love to move to a place that has no more than 1+50 flight to five bases and no more than a 3+00 to three more, but yes, driving to work is great.

Point was a commute is a commute whether it is on a plane, train, subway, ferry or automobile.

ACL,

I disagree. With a three hour drive you can leave at any time and be there in three hours. With a three hour flight - you can be there three hours from the flight, if there is a seat. And then you have to leave your house in time to drive to the airport, park and be at the gate in time to get bumped by a DCI Pilot. :)

PCS Question

So I put in for a swap with the pot for a trip. It is a 5 day trip running the same days as the trip I want to swap it for. The only difference is better layovers and higher value.

I look this morning and I am not awarded the trip. Someone else junior to me is awarded as a white slip. The trip does not depart for a week.

I thought PCS was suppose to honor seniority. Can someone explain this one to me.

Caddis,

This is my biggest gripe with the current system. White slips have priority over swap with the pot. Don't like it, tell the Scheduling Optimization Team. Maybe there will be enough of us to get it changed.

True, but I still stand by the fact that when I was a commuter I was much more rested. I got a nice nap on the way to work, where as now, I get a nice drive in traffic.

Yep, it is.

If we go to rates that are better than SWA and a DC like Hawaiian, every CAPT will max out quite easily.Tthat is why I think that having this extra bump is something we should ponder.

Please provide any updates you get on this as to why this happened. I am very surprised a WS would be awarded that early and thus deprive you of the chance to get the swap. Seriously screwed up.

acl65pilot 11-09-2010 04:39 AM

WS are also the medium used to pick up open time. Someone with VAC that wants to pick up a trip could have easily picked up the whole trip.

maddogmax 11-09-2010 04:40 AM

I thought WS were only awarded no sooner then two days before the departure date. Is that not true? Still learning
