Are they not smart enoough to get academic scholarships? :) I saw a news article about Harvard and the endowment. If I remember correctly, it said that many/most kids received almost full tuition/board is the parents made under something like $200K.
Of course, there's always the boat school!

Is there any way they could contribute in gold or silver? With the devaluation of the dollar accelerating with our ever increasing debt, I would like to be able to retire someday.

Columbia, do not get me started. I have always argued that we as a association should have a substitute currency written in to the PWA. I figure the Euro, yen, or gold valuation on a different currency would be a good backup. It would be triggered at a certain inflationary point.

So yes, I do not mind that either.

That's what I thought. My kids will be out of college in 22 years and that is when I hope to be able to retire. My farm ground isn't as nice as what you probably have in NE Texas, but it's provided a living for 4 generations and I hope to be the 5th. I would love to run nothing but a John Deere after age 50.

Ditto RB....We have a Ranch in So Cal and if the estate tax doesn't wipe us out I just want to hang and ride dirt bikes w/ my kids and surf. Take a look the self directed 401k and check out GLD GDX NEM CEF.

Good luck to all of us now that a pension is out of the question.

Baja.

If Giselle is smart enough to be paid in Euros as she sees the devaluation in the dollar, why can't we work something out?

'Dollars? No thanks,' says No 1 supermodel Gisele - Times Online

Dollars? No thanks,' says No 1 supermodel Gisele

Philippe Naughton

With earnings of more than $30 million a year, she rarely wakes up for much less than $100,000 a day. Now Gisele Bundchen has decided to stay in bed unless she's paid in euros.
In a dispatch to dismay loyal fans of the greenback, Bloomberg news agency reported today that the Brazilian supermodel is telling prospective employers that she no longer accepts American dollars.
Ms Bundchen reportedly asked Proctor & Gamble to pay her in euros when she signed a deal to represent Pantene hair products back in August. The Brazilian weekly Vega reported that she will also get euros for a recent deal with Dolce & Gabbana to promote the designers' new perfume.
"Contracts starting now are more attractive in euros because we don't know what will happen to the dollar," Patricia Bundchen, the model's manager and twin sister  told Bloomberg.
Ms Bundchen is in good company. The US dollar has lost around one-third of its value since 2001 and is trading at record lows against the euro, Canadian dollar and Chinese yuan. It is at its cheapest for 26 years against the pound sterling.
Bloomberg put Ms Bundchen alongside the billionaire investors Warren Buffett and Bill Gross "at the top of a growing list of rich people who have concluded that the currency can only depreciate because Americans led by President George W. Bush are living beyond their means".
