Army-Navy Game Today

Army Navy Game: Army Poses Much Greater Challenge Than In Year's Past

by Mike Prada

Over the past three years, the only intrigue with the Army-Navy Game is figuring out just how dominant Navy would be. The Midshipmen have won eight straight games in this contest, and their last three wins have come by a combined 89-6 margin. Lots of this has to do with Navy's recent success under Ken Niumatalolo.

But this year is different. In the past, Army has been a very bad team, but not in 2010. Army has surprised the football world, going 6-5 on their way to the Armed Forces Bowl. They rank ninth in the nation in rushing and 12th in turnover margin. Sure, none of their wins have been against particularly impressive competition, but this is still a greater challenge for Navy, one that Niumatolo stressed to his team.

Thought it was after 75hrs, than you could decline any more assignments.

It is easy. Go to your schedule on DBMS (I-Crew) and see max reserve. It is what the ALV is for you seat in a given month. It that. Take the yellow slips out and call scheduling and tell them you are over, and want off. You can still white and yellow slip, but on your call. They need to be notified to take you off the RUO. I went over a few months back and to see what they did, I took out all of my slips and they stuck me on SC. I promptly called them and reminded them that I was done. They took care of it, and then stuck in a few specific slips and got what I wanted.

All short calls should be 12 hours. Int'l categories have double the requirement of domestic.

The proposal in the NPRM is 16 hrs, with a max after call out around 22.

Depending on the final ruling it may require up to 400 or so more bodies here at DAL.

I have sat 24 SC for some time and do it a lot. It does have its negatives. With Whitlow maxes not applying to Flag Operations I have been put on SC at 0430 in the AM and called late that night for a RTB flight that is scheduled to leave at 3 AM and then fly 10+ hrs. It is above board legal, but on of the downfalls of the current reserve system.

Best thing to do is treat SC like work and try to get a few short cat naps during the day. It is what I do to be prepared for a call out like this.

A helpful post, but we were trying to remember how long scheduling at NWA had us on the hook for when on reserve. :)
