Anyone got the gouge on cheap airport hotels in DTW. Gonna be needing one in a day or so. Get in around midnight and need to catch a flight at 8AM the next day. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Days Inn Clarion La Quinta to name a few, I think the Springhill Suites is a little more but it's new. Tons of options 2 minutes from the airport that offer discounts. :) |
Go to The Metropolitan, rooms $41 after taxes, very comfortable beds. Van every 20 mins. Like it better than La Quinta.

So, when does the hiring start? What does one need to do to get an interview? I have no military experience, although I was in JROTC in high school and college.

Hmmm. The only thing that casts doubt on this being true is that it says "discussions with aircraft manufacturers regarding the purchase of new planes." I don't buy it.
Had it said "discussions with airlines regarding the purchase of their used aircraft." I'd buy it. I'm sure not only are we eyeing every MD-90 in the world and play footsies with SWA over the 717, but don't forget about AMR's parked A300s, 762s and Fokker 100s. Also, we could try and buy back the MD-11 and convert them back into airliners via a "snip-snap-snip-snap" method of aircraft transformation based off of Michael Scott's vasectomy, vasectomy reversal and then subsequent vasectomy. We could bring back the Avro jets. United might be willing to sell us their 735s, 733s and 762s as well. And I haven't even hit the international airlines and what they have to offer. Really, a boneyard is a goldmine. It will be interesting to see how they will pull this off while still reducing the debt load. If nothing else this management team has been creative, so I expect a new aircraft purchase will be no different. Strange that we're the only job I know of where simply taking your scheduled time off (and not working overtime) can be illegal.
I think "past practice" is used in many contract disputes to establish what's "legal", written language notwithstanding. If nobody ever volunteered for overtime, the company would have no legitimate beef about it, they'd have to hire more pilots, and guys would move up faster. But lots of us did volunteer (unless pilots were on furlough), so in a way, we made our own bed in this matter. :o |

Check your man-playbook. Planning to go to Denny's is a technical violation. You may only end up there.
