Nah it's not that bad to just talk about it. I was thinking in particular about Supers earlier post and some of the other stuff I had heard about 320 GSing and was wondering now that people had seen both, especially the 320 guys, what did they think and prefer now having seen the previous system and now the GS system. Just an exercise.

I think I saw 15" of snow for that area? After all of the Christmas music I heard I couldn't get "the weather outside is frightful" out of my head during the warts briefing. So I briefed it was bad on clear days. CYA.

EWR is closed.

Guys, we need to think outside the container... it doesn't have to be the north way or the south way, how about a combo that is better than both? Just brainstormin', but how about 1.5 for over ALV, and 2x for green-slips (same day/next day)? Details aren't really important, just the idea that we can come up with something new and better vs. something from either of our pasts.

I've been trying since I've been on it, but have yet to pull off the true "rolling thunder". I saw one guy last July that pulled it off in SLC and I've come close a few months but have yet to have a month where I didn't fly at least two trips for credit. This month I flew two short 2-day trips for credit the first week and I've been rolling days since then. I need one more 1-day GS and I'll roll my days through the end of the month like Super has done. I'll end up having Christmas and New Years off (which was the goal) and getting 140+ hours pay, but I've worked my butt off and wouldn't want to do it every month.

It's not the easiest thing to get going imho unless you really bid off the first days of the month and pretty much resign to being on call. At my new hire indoc class here scheduling came in and used an example of a MD88 guy in SLC that had bid down to the plane just to do the rolling thunder game. It was incredible to see but back then it was too early to see all of that stuff although when we hit the line GS's were flowing and we honestly didn't understand the do's and more importantly the dont's.

I wonder, 1.5 over 80 hours of (credit?) with GS's intact for regular and reserve lines... just a thought but of course I don't have the numbers and I don't have slow's brain to determine the good and bad.

Everyone talks about rolling thunder, but few have actually pulled off the entire month of PB days. It can be done, and I've seen it done, but you have to basically put yourself on short call all month and do whatever they say whenever they call. That is what I've done this month to get the holidays off and I'm beat...and I didn't even come close to doing the whole month. I guess those who did the Delta Express gig in MCO back in the day were the pro's at it and it happned alot back then, but the last few years it is not an easy deal to pull off.

I'd have made more extra $$ the last 4 years getting 1.5 over 80 than I would GS pay. I think I got 2 GS trips my first three years on the 88 so if they get things staffed up right, they don't come along that often. I think a system of 1.5 over 80 for what PBS gives you plus WS trips and then 2X pay for GS trips would be the best of both worlds. You would also see alot less GS trips go out because guys could get 1.5X pay for WS trips and have a choice in what they are picking up so the company might like that also.

I think the best system would be giving me enough pay per hour so I can make $150K per year as an FO on 75 hours pay per month. Then I wouldn't care about 1.5 over 80 or GS pay.

In all seriousness though, be safe. That stuff gets slick.

Went to the airport, all the Delta flights were CXL except mine. So we loaded up, de-iced (type 1 & 4), then got stuck behind a Air India 777(who needed a follow-me truck to get to the runway), now ready for takeoff, only to be told there is a ground stop in ATL. Taxied back to the gate, Wx turned really bad, 1/8 mile +SN, cross wind, MU's in 20s. Unloaded the PAX, airport now closed. So, called it a day. After some great phone work by my F/O, back to the hotel sipping on a cold Sam Addams. All and all, not a bad day.....

Airport to open at 4pm this afternoon....

Good CRM! I suspect some pax and crewmembers were struggling to even find a hotel room. :(
