Have to agree here. It seems as if the GS system lends iteslf to the senior guys and also those that live in base. 1.5 pay was pretty much across the board and was also somewhat availabel to those who comute. If you go over 80 you get 1.5 pay simple as that. Depends on where you are on the seniority list and where you live.;)

On domestic categories I agree. I don't see GS's being very feasible as a commuter unless its international only category. On the ER I routinely saw GS's go out for next day flying without weather being a factor, just normal summer time needs. That was in 2008 though.

Here is my issue with that. I was on my on call day starting around the storm in MSP for 13 days with a one day break. Good for me in that I YS trips and hit the ALV and am off the last 10 days of this month. Now I am over ALV and a GS is worthless to me.

I am home this week and willing to fly but I won't for RES pay rules. Why would I GS a trip and not get 2x pay. Why YS a trip and get paid 6:30 for a trip that pays a REG pilot 10:30.

So instead I will enjoy some time at home. Now it is possible I am mistaken and could be maximizing pay somehow but I don't know how.

That I completely understand. When I get a robo call it's usually on premium days I bid off and got or weekends. Why would I give up a weekend for a trip worth 2 or 3 hours? I realize I'd get credit of the trip up until the ALV but sometimes it just ain't worth it especially if that's low too. Unless I misunderstand that alv game.

the 70 hr deal really puzzles me How did we get that??????????????

I don't mind if it was ALV on reserve for me for $$ purposes, but I also don't want to slide out the back end of the category as we need fewer pilots. That's probably where the 70 comes from, if the ALV went up to 82 hours (max allowed) they'd fly the guys to 82 instead of 69.9. I think it's a jobs program. :D

Has anyone tried rolling thunder on the 320? Bid the first few days of the month off and start GS'ing?

Okay, to the guys who have flown both the GS system and 1.5x pay above 80 or 85 or whatever it was, what would you prefer in C2012? Pro's and con's preferred. If it descends into a DAL vs NWA thing then I will exercise the nuclear option and with 80 gone on a trip nobody will be here to stop me from being suspended. Think twice. :D

Wow,

Are you sure its time for this discussion again? I thought this wasn't due for another month.

yeah and now i'm headed in for #4 which should enable me to get new years off and finish the month with 134 hours credit for the month. So with this system i managed to start the month with a schedule that had me on call the 21-31st getting 70 hours to being off the 21-28th and now new years.

My greenslip today left me with one shot to get to atl and scheduling said they needed me bad enough that they'd positive space me on a full flight to get me there. they have no one else they said

did it this month, albeit that i didnt purposefully bid the beginning of the month off. but being as short as we are on the bus, it worked well. january looks bad too as far as coverage is concerned.

I think ftb just likes talking about 1.5 over me. Whatever 1.5 is, I don't know. But I don't think its hard to get.
