When were they supposed to be here? We picked up a couple of them shortly before summer. I'd expect the others not to arrive until before next summers push.

I heard that too. I know there are only two cities they think have the ability to support the 744 year round out of NYC. I also know that they want a stronger commitment to the 330 time in ATL before the jump on basing it here. If marketing can give that, then I see a lot of the MSP 330 time coming this way, and being backfilled by more 7ER time.

I spoke with an MSP330 guy this past week. Take it for what it's worth, but they are being told that the company has taken a good hard look at the potential waterfall caused by closing and moving a 330/744 base and decided that it's not worth it. Probably just wishful thinking on their part, but it would cause a huge wave throughout the system that would cost a ton of training if they closed any of the current 330 bases. At least 25 MSP 330 capt's are senior enough to bump in to anything except the 777.

Delta almost dead last in on time arrivals in June July and August.
Thank goodness we're getting cs tool kits, that should help...

Sorry to bring up possible merger scenario's again, but I think one thing is VERY important to point out to all:

Capacity discipline: (FROM THE QUICKTAKE PAGE FOR Delta Air Lines)

DC9-30s to retire by end of year, DC9-40s to fly until Spring 2011
Tentative approval for DTW-HND and LAX-HND flights, to be flown with 747-400s
11 more MD-90s have been purchased

Combined with expansion of possible merger partners: (FROM THE QUICKTAKE PAGE OF Alaska Airlines)

SJC-Guadalajara begins Dec 15; SJC-San Jose del Cabo begins Nov 20
PDX-HNL 1x daily
SEA-STL 09/27/10 1x daily
SAN-OGG 10/01/10 1x daily
SAN-PVR 11/12/10 - 04/11/11 1x daily
PDX-KOA 11/12/10 - 04/09/11 Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat
SEA-KOA 11/11/10 - 04/07/11
Bellingham (BLI)-HNL 01/07/11 1x daily
OAK-Lihue, Kauai (LIH) 03/28/11 Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat
SJC- Lihue, Kauai (LIH) 03/27/11 Tue, Thu, Sun
Converted purchase rights into options to buy up to 25 737-800s
Above deliveries in 2012 and 2013
(FROM THE QUICKTAKE PAGE OF Hawaiian Airlines)

10 A330s on order
Awarded daily HNL-HND (Tokyo-Haneda, Japan) by DOT; scheduled to begin in Oct with 767-300ER and eventually the A330-200
New routes: OGG (Maui)-OAK, OGG-SAN

EQUALS A LOSS IN SENIORITY FOR US IF AND WHEN WE MERGE.

Once again:

DAL's capacity discipline (if they do it) combined with Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines expansion (if they are hire or keep people to fly our old routes) equals a loss of seniority for us in SLI.

I know that we walk a tight rope with what we see as beneficial for us. But, as a pilot, with merger speculations flying around, there are only three words I want to hear: Expansion. Expansion. Accelerated Retirements. Continued Hiring. (Ok. Five.)

Save the capacity discipline for after we merge. :)

Just something to think about.....

Part of the ugly truth about why we are not expanding and they are is debt. We have a ton of it, and that is why it is easier to do a code share, joint venture or stock swap for a acquisition. If DAL had a better balance sheet we may be buying jets. I do like that they are looking on the used market and paying down the debt and an amazing rate.

Q 3 results will be out Oct 20th.

It is what I was told as well.

I understand the paying off debt part. But, when Buzz and others talk about Alaska flying all over the place and taking over routes we used to fly, I think everyone should me mindful of what that could mean over the horizon. You can't "recapture" seniority once a list is merged.

If either of those companies announce hiring soon and we aren't going to do so until late 2011 we should be very mindful.

Yes. The sky is falling. :)

I hope we put newKnow on the merger comm :)

I happen to like Chicken Little. He is a great thinker. If you design a system for the worst case scenario, test and improve it ... it works great & holds up under stress.

new ... Thanks for the idea !

Looks like a perfect lead in for ftb to insert a pic of "the chicken" looking up to a Hawaiian A350 taking off overhead. Good work, bar. :D

P.S. I defer my merger committee position to you. Trust me, you are the smart one.

What about a 330 base without closing an existing base?
