Default Dalpa not alpo

The letter is from the DALPA chairman not the ALPA chairman. The DALPA chairman SHOULD be making scope a bullet point since it it VERY important to the DALPA members he represents. It has nothing to do with a "watered-down lets group hug the regionals" ALPA statement. DAL does not fly commuters so he doesn't represent them at all. I too am disappointed he didn't mention scope in his letter. Time to actually start listening instead of hearing.

Just a thought. If there are still benchings going on junior to you in category, you may be able to call scheduling and swap to a later class. Since we are past the conversion date, maybe they will send someone junior to you earlier, and give you a chance to help out.

Good idea and certainly worth the call. They're good folks and if push come to shove I bet there are some on here willing to go earlier for you if it helps - myself included.

While I don't usually comment on here about DALPA/ALPA and the direction our contract should take, I do find it troubling that some folks (not singling you out ExAF) get extremely excited and make inflamatory remarks about something that the union leadership DOES NOT say. I venture to say that we all have something very important to us that the chairman did NOT mention. Maybe retirement is more important to me than scope. Should I get all bent out of shape because of that? I think it is important to realize that the MEC has to take the concerns of ALL the Delta pilots into consideration and try to focus on issues that we all agree on. In many ways that is very difficult to do but here, I think, the master chairman has focused on an issue that we all agree on - pay. I will not blast him right out of the gate for what he did not mention even if it is very important to me individually or collectively among some here on APC. We don't speak for the entire pilot group. I'm sure that the lounge visits have had different flavors around the system. I am willing to give this new leadership team a chance to see how they will respond to us before giving them serious critique.

I called to ask just that but unfortunately the 737 training guy is on vacation till the 3rd. The 320 person called me back but said it was up to crew resources who was also on vacation. Had it not been the Holidays I think they could have accommodated. I'll ask again when I get there.

Thanks for the well wishes.

Heyas,

Totally disagree with the above.

In UnionSpeak, what you don't say is louder than what you do...by several orders of magnitude.

Everything I've heard from people in the know is that the outgoing admin is going to look like a chatterbox compared to the incoming admin.

OK Carl, I have asked you multiple times to name the first. Please, we are all ears. All you say is "you don't know what you're talking about" and then you hurl an insult. So just answer the question, who was the first group that did what we did.

Uncle,

Your post is an example of why Delta pilots get concerned when ever support for scope is conspicuous by its absence. Sure, we can all agree more pay would be nice. We disagree as to what should be negotiated to secure more pay. More often than not, scope sales have come as a thief in the night, negotiated in secret and put to our pilot group as a deal we have to accept. There is a track record of pilots' jobs and job progression being traded for other pilots' retirement. It has happened before.

As for an objective reason to suspect this leadership team, there are already examples in past conduct.

(example redacted due to political sensitivities)

The answer to every conflict of interest is unity. The way to unify our flying is better scope.

If WE do the flying, there is no conflict of interest.

I understand your concern and you present it rationally and without chest thumping. Some do not.

I can only speak for myself. IMHO we all agree that pay is at or near the top of the list for improvement. That is why it is important to focus on pay and speak about it. The many other issues, including scope, are not as widely accepted (IMHO) and it makes sense to not speak about them yet. As we approach section 6 talks it will be interesting to see if scope is near pay in importance to the majority or if a loud minority is trying to seize control. It will be important to stay in contact with our reps to understand where the MEC is going.
