To stop funding/growing the 401k and allow inflation to eat away at the principle would be incredibly foolish, IMO. But if you're a "sky is falling" kinda guy, then knock yourself out. Just my opinion, FWIW.
Ok, the mattress bit was hyperbole. If you couldn't recognize that your pomposity needle is exceeding a limit and you have a red boxed indicator.

The attitude that it couldn't happen here is just as dumb, IMHO. The trend vector is pointing to just that. Who would have thought the government would own GM 5 years ago? Who would have thought Obamacare would have passed 10 years ago? Who would have thought the Supremes would have ruled Kelo 10 years ago? See my point?

Whether the last election will have any lasting effect remains to be seen. Somethings got to give. This government is spending 1-2 TRILLION dollars more than they take in. Private pension funds and individual accounts are huge piles of money politicians don't have access to, yet. Remember, it has been discussed in this country by members of this Administration.

Bombardier says SkyWest orders 4 jets

NEW YORK (AP) -- Bombardier Inc. said Tuesday that SkyWest Inc., which operates regional flights for Delta Air Lines Inc., has placed an order for four CRJ700 NextGen airliners.

The order is valued at about $148 million at list prices, although discounts are common.

The aircraft will be flown by SkyWest Airlines under the Delta Connection banner.

SkyWest Airlines and its sister airline, Atlantic Southeast Airlines, currently operate 406 CRJ200, CRJ700 and CRJ900 regional jets.

Including this announcement, Bombardier has taken firm orders around the world for 1,713 CRJ Series aircraft as of Oct. 31.

SkyWest is based in St. George, Utah. Bombardier is based in Quebec.
Please say these are just replacing current jets? Oh, and we ain't paying for them?

A flight of five DC-9-40's went on their last flight yesterday, three from DTW and two from MSP, to the scrapper down in Florida. Pulling out of the gate it was taking a little bit to get some final paperwork, ramp was wondering how much longer it would be there was a compass 175 waiting for the gate.

This SkyWest money at use here. Of course the long-term contract to fly for Delta is the assurance the planes will be used.

I'ts possible the (4) CR7's could be replacements for the (4) Horizon Air CR7's sub-leased by ASA at the moment.

Then again, someone I know at SkyWest ops says they're stretched way too thin on CR7's for the Delta side. He thought SkyWest would be taking on some of the Horizon sub-leases as well.

Okay to summarize the impending AE rumors I think after reading the last few pages we have:
1.) Opens the 7th.
2.) MSP / MEM 9's going to ATL late in the year.
3.) 320's and 330's to ATL from MSP / DTW earlier in the year.

My questions are:
1.) Will it totally remove those categories from there or split them up?
2.) Will they fill in those holes with 88's/90's(for the 9's) and 73n's and ER's(for the 320's and 330's)?

They have been talking about a surplus award on the 88 since there are a bunch of 90's that will not be moded for the summer 2011 sked.

Okaaay... so why did you call me. Um, don't know.

I would of thought the computer would of figured that out, before my name showed up on the GS list for those rotations.
They tried to give me 2 illegal trips last week. One illegal per whitlow, and one per the pwa. The sched even told me he was brand new. I also almost cnx a flight for no 24 hour break within 7 days which I gave them plenty of heads up for. Went out fine, but was within 5 mins of cnx. Not a good plan in my opinion.

BL, know the contract and the FARs because it appears the computer ain't catching everything and the scheds are not pilots.

I'm blown away by all the training DAL wants to create for itself. I wouldn't mind going to the 7ER, but I don't want to commute reserve for it.

My personal opinion is that MEM DC9 will be gone completely. It appears most of their rotations begin with DH's to ATL much like the CVG 7er used to. I'm not sure about MSP, but I imagine it will close completely too. It looks like a lot of the old MSP DC9 routes have been taken over by MD90's & RJ's.

In regards to the 330's, I can see them coming from MSP completely. DTW will remain untouched. The 320's will be split. No way they will close MSP/DTW 320.

Doesn't a Voluntary Displacement invoke a 2 yr freeze?

I always hated seeing DC9/40 on my rotation. Those stinking JT8D-11's were junk. It was like flying a CRJ200. MGTOW departure meant you were lucky to make it to FL300.

I'm still going to miss seeing them though.
