Tsquare's point is the same as many of us. He/we are not saying anyone is perfect or 100% incompetent. Your problem is that you cannot admit to any errors on ALPA's part until many years later when the facts are absolutely undeniable. All the lawyers, negotiations experts and EF&A guys get played like cheap violins by management, and folks like you crow about them being the world's experts in all areas of labor issues. THAT'S your problem. You are far too much of a cheerleader to be considered an accurate source of information to help decide the competence of ALPA national.

You're the only one I know of to make such a statement. It would be great if you were right, but you are not.

You are clueless. You have such a blind hatred for senior pilots, you're simply unable to give up the template you've created that we're evil. Senior pilots are the ones that sold scope to line their own pockets. Senior pilots are the ones that by selling scope, made you lose 10 years of longeivity at Delta...even though you hadn't been hired at Delta.

I don't think you're slamming me. You've just been too indoctrinated by the RJ lifers you worked with that senior major pilots are scum. I'm sure many of the senior pilots you fly with tell you that scope is extremely important. But by the time you work it through your mind's template, it comes out as: "I want my pay and I want it now."

You are utterly clueless.

Yes, there are several ways that unwarranted concessions might occur. Historically, I think that more harm has been done to the profession by frightened, disunited pilot groups than by rogue representatives. The latter situation is more infuriating, but the former is harder to fix. :(

In this last decade, the two are one in the same. "Rogue" reps with agendas for higher office actually CAUSED the frightened and disunited pilot groups. In my opinion.

Have you picked up the phone and talked to your reps or O'Malley?

No. My method of communication is in writing. Always.

That's exactly why I don't lend much credence to a phone conversation. If you're not willing to put it in writing, I don't think it's worth much.

That is NOT my impression from what I have in writing.

Really? I fly with guys pretty much every trip who say the same thing. We decide what we're willing to negotiate or not. More outsourcing is universally NO in my experience. It's true we were talked into the Alaska codeshare because it came from NW with the merger. I voted no because of it and what I thought it would do to any chance of expansion in LA. No more DCI is easy though, unless your objective is to sow doubt and fear that is.
